GGG, why did you make armour so bad on purpose?
i honestly think some of the game is thoughtfully designed and some of it is just grab the mechanic from poe1, spend an hour having a quick napkin math think, adjust it a bit, throw it in the game for now and see how it plays out. come back and redesign it properly when they have the actual data and have a better idea of what endgame builds look like.
there should be 6 acts, theres almost no unique items for lvl50+, the EA launched 3 weeks late. they ran out of time. i think many systems are just quick placeholders to make the game playable for release. They showed on QA incompetency of blizzard level. They don't even know how bleed works in poe 2.. so i guess they are not playing melee.

" no they know how it is supposed to work, it is clearly bugged. it is probably already fixed and coming in the patch this week. . . Last edited by thawn4444#3507 on Jan 15, 2025, 4:40:28 AM

They said in the recent stream that the issue in PoE 2 is white mobs hit harder compared to PoE 2 which is something that makes armor work differently in PoE 2. So yea they definitely need to rethink armor before release. Maybe they will have to go the classic way of other games with armor and step away from their unique way of doing it.
What I'm getting from that QA stream it seems a lot of stuff they just rushed into the game without testing properly just to have the game get launched for EA and they thought they would just fix it as time goes on which they are doing as well. Just a thought, and its a wild one but just hear me out aite?
Have you considered it wasn't on purpose? Like, between how they talked about the armor situation in the interview, and if you look at how the other defenses operate by cross-interacting with various skills and talents, it's pretty clear that armour's viability in the monstrous web of skill and talent interactions just kind-of submerged into the bog of stuff to work on in the game design. I promise, GGG isn't out to get you. |

they're not making anything good or bad on purpose (except deadeye always being op in every iteration of every path of exile game, because devs are playing deadeye)
they're just testing the waters and fine tuning will come later "buff grenades" - Buff Grenades (Buff-Grenades) Last edited by auspexa#1404 on Jan 15, 2025, 5:49:38 AM

" Maybe you haven't watched Krip's videos on the topic but this was a design choice. The formula is different to PoE 1's so it was a conscious decision by someone and it is actually worse at doing what it's supposed to do. I know it's a wild thought, but just hear me out aite? Not everybody imagines that a company is out to get them and sometimes they just want to understand the reasons behind a decision. I promise, it doesn't affect my daily life or cross my mind outside of this post. I'm just curious why. |

" yeah i think so. they probably would have needed another 6 months to finish the campaign, really design all the systems and test them fully. but theres no way they could justify a delay like that. i think it works too cause no matter how much you plan and test things in a vacuum as soon as a million ppl start playing it they find all sorts of things you were not expecting and you have to go back and redesign everything anyway. so in some regards you might as well just get it out there, get people playing it asap so you can actually get the real data you need to make informed decisions coming in. so much of all this really is a guessing game until a wide community play it on a live server.
