PoE 2 is dead & buried ~ hype is over

The other part is pure fantasy that doesn't deserve a response .

It doesn't make any sense.
On Probation Any%
The fact that you are on these forums discussing this topic is contrary to your point. Never played POE1, this game is & will do just fine.
We're already starting with these posts? I expect them on Steam forums but not here. Almost every new game now looks like this now. There's the hype and promotion, people either enjoy it and stay or they don't and move on to whatever the next game content creators are playing for clicks and views while the PoE gamers maintain their audience.

Question for OP though: Are you going to repost this EVERY new league? Because the graph reflects similar statistics as every PoEI league only now the numbers are much larger. Also, for being EA and nowhere near finished the numbers look pretty good for its genre.
Expect a heavy drop on the 21s. D4 Season 7 begins. You're going to see a large amount jump back to the game that is getting a big update vs the one that just did a tiny amount for mapping and ignored class issues.

Probably not given that here I was poking fun at all the haters who spent the last weeks making threads after threads predicting the death of this game .

they were never trying to open the game to a casual fan base. its one of the most complex hardcore action rpgs ever made focused primarily on the pc. nothing about what theyre trying to do has ever been about making a game for casual gamers and never will.

theyre trying to make the best arpg ever by their own standards as hardcore arpg fanboy nerds.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

Soon it will go down.

Steam Chart says it.

PoE2 wont go further than PoE.

The EndGame is too abyssimal for Casuals.

This game is PoE devs and PoEFanboys only.

Release date doesnt even matter. Arpg fans already tried the game, and PoEFanboys are still playing it.

PoE devs failed to open the game to a casual player base.

unfortunately i have to agree based on empiric experience
I'm a poe 1 fan boi, was playing with a 3 friends in December and now they're gone, they wasn't able to progress due lack of knowledge and quitted the game.

same story here.
We were three friends who started PoE1 together in 2014...
One of us didn't really get hooked and must have spent 100 hours on it at most. The second and I have been playing it for the last ten years (7500Hours for me, 10 000H+ for my mate).

10 years later, we decided to start PoE2 together, just like in the good old days. The first of my friends and I gave up after a week, and the last one played for another 2 weeks before giving up.

This game isn't any more affordable than PoE1, it just offers a more interesting challenge at the start of the game at a time when it's not crucial to choose one path rather than another in the passive tree and in the choice of gems.

The number of players decreases from week to week, not because players have reached the endgame and are bored like in a PoE1 league, but because the game is too complex, not rewarding and the endgame insufficient.

It is ridiculous to compare the current PoE 2 statistics with the retention rate of a PoE league:
- PoE2 is new and has a high profile on many platforms via pubs and streamers. It has attracted a large number of people who didn't play PoE1 or who didn't get hooked. That doesn't guarantee that they'll have a lasting interest in PoE2 either.
- PoE 1 is 10 years old and players are now quickly making a complete turnaround, in just a few weeks. Yet each league continues to attract more and more players, but the retention rate drops drastically in just a few weeks.
- The number of PoE2 players remained high for the first few weeks due to the end-of-year holidays, but has since fallen sharply.
- PoE 2 is in paid early access, which represents a barrier to entry that will no longer exist when the final game is released for free. Once again, this will attract a large number of players.

All this to say that you can love it, hate it, or just keep waiting for significant improvements. Whatever your point of view, PoE 1 & 2 will only be comparable when we have enough data over time on several consecutive leagues.

I played 100 hours of PoE 1, didnt follow any guides for PoE 2 and im currently with 333 hours on PoE 2, doing t15 maps with some juice and having a lot of fun, despite knowing that the game has som issues and a lot of room to improve. This "game is dead posts" are just dumb people trying to get atention on forums.
