CPU demand vs. other games

Nothing will be achieved with this thread because we'll see people with 7900x3d CPUs and claim that they are not having any issues.

People are still paying tons of money for high end parts yet play the games at 60hz monitors with a 60 fps cap.

edit: I was late. We already had those.

Good luck though.

haha uhh huh. And saying that this game is unoptimized because i have a 1 year old "gaming" laptop from walmart is fair. Post the specs of that gaming laptop. Or maybe a better question, when is the last time you blew the dust off that heatsink/fan? Most likely never. Do you sit with the laptop on your lap, covering the vents? Is your CPU overclocked? Did you overclock it yourself in the bios before seeing what it can actually be overclocked to and still be stable? We will just call the game unoptimized and call it a day.

I have a Ryzen 7900x3d and an RTX 4070TI Super with graphics maxed and get around 110 fps @4k and its running at like 10% cpu usage. So its fairly optimized at least for AMD chipsets.

Higher resolutions move a bunch of load off of the cpu and on to gpu, pretty normal behavior.
I'm curious, how LOW does your fps dip in something like breach or delirium?

It seems to me that POE and POE2 are such high demanding performance hog games, my CPU temps are consistently 95-100 degC, whereas other games are 60-70 degC.

I do have a 1 year old gaming laptop so is this game so far out there for AAA style games where every time the temp stays at >95 degC for 4min or longer, the system crashes due to temp?

Is this a game issue, or is this only a 1-off laptop performance issue?

a) laptops are going to run hot in general
b) your cpu should he throttling itself to prevent overheating.
If it is unable to cool properly it will shut down to protect your hardware.

I can't be sure here but it sounds like your laptop has a cooling issue and the fans are unable to protect the system so the cpu is forcing the power off.
If I was you I would be looking in to that.

POE2 absolutely slams my cpu like no other game does though

7800x3d @ 1440p here, my fps dips to like 30-40 fps
7800x3d cooled with MasterAir MA824 Stealth + 4090 in 4k.

Sometimes CPU goes to 82°C and than goes down to cca 70°C. Case is open.

Its normal behaviour.

If laptot goes for described temps than I would try to repaste cooler/CPU and clean air routes for CPU cooling. Otherwise it is laptop design to perform that way in high load.

If it shuts down, I would go to vendor to solve that issue.

I7 14700k max 70 degrees C in any content on CPU...4060 16gb max 55 degrees in any content...Never seen a 100% load on them while playing.

Not using any kind of water cooling and using box cooling thermal paste ( as if buying a more expensive one would make a difference)

My case has fans every were though..
Never invite Vorana, Last To Fall at a beer party.
