Which Class is the Most "Nerf Proof"?
Whenever I get my account unlocked I'm planning to reroll, warrior (especially after the nerf) just isn't doing it for me anymore. Is there a class that's better than most for endgame bossing?
I've done some research and was planning on Monk, but now I hear (read) that a nerf for bells is imminent and going to happen within the next few weeks. Would Monk still be worth trying you think? Is there another class I should be considering? Infernalist & Stormweaver were also on my radar, being right there in consideration with Invoker. Any thoughts or suggestions on the topic? with all these suggestions, I don't know which I should try first! And before you say it...yes, yes, I know...try the one that sounds most fun to me...
I'm just trying to narrow down that list. 😁 (and what's with that emoji? must have gotten braces...) 😉 |

Warrior is the most prone to buffs than it is nerfs which could honestly never happen.
Monk performed fine without the double herald clear but we don't actually know what GGG feels is overperforming and underperforming. IMO a single bell is really nice for single target but I don't see how that would warrant a nerf. It's the equivalent of Lightning Rod + Orb of Storms on bow builds or hammer of gods on warrior. They all achieve the same thing within roughly the same amount of time. I believe Sparkmage has Lightning Conduit too. My recommendation is to play the class that looks the most interesting to you. Well nobody knows.
Id stay away from anything trigger related, cast on (shock, ignite, whatever). Everything else is a cointoss. If you dont want to take a risk, wait a week. By then we should have at least a roadmap or something like that, maybe even a patch and patchnotes. If cant wait, pick anything you like and hope for the best: https://maxroll.gg/poe2 You can always respec, so it doesnt matter all that much. |

I also kind of screwed up my last ascendancy points on warrior, going with an armor buff instead of "+40% damage after heavy-stunned". I didn't realize how broke armor was/is until after making the choice, unfortunately.
I just thought I needed to get my overall number to an even higher mitigation point (currently at 31k+ armor I think). To be fair, damage never seemed to be the problem. Getting smacked a ton by ranged direct damage, aoe's, and just plain being slow in attacks seem to be the biggest issues. *btw, I went the Titan route which I also regret* Last edited by MissEpic#7842 on Jan 5, 2025, 8:55:53 PM

Im going to lean with anything built on chaos. This early access, nothing is really concerning with chaos. Invoker and other builds are top tier, and anything top tier gets nerfed. And the tops builds right now lack chaos. So if you want to play with a build that might pay off, choose choas.

GGG has shown they’re willing to be pretty aggressive with nerf’s right out the gate, so I don’t know that anything is “safe”. This is pretty different from how they handled nerfs in PoE1, but it was the first launch of EA so maybe they’ll slow it down a bit going forward, or maybe they’ll be this hyper-aggressive all through EA, no one knows.
Unfortunately the way they’ve solved many over performing late game skills is by nerfing those skills across the board, often making previously ok-ish early/mid game builds utilizing those same skills awful. Basically, they don’t seem to care for collateral damage. My advice - don’t wait, just build what seems fun right now, but do it on a budget. That way even if you do get caught up in a nerf you haven’t thrown away your entire currency tab for gear you may need to replace. I don’t know if I’d be comfortable investing a major portion of my currency in any single build until we see how GGG plans to handle balance going forward. Always good to have a rainy day fund when you’ve got a wildcard with their hand over the nerf button. |

The answer is the same as it's always been: Strong builds that aren't really being talked about.
