Great post.

Personnaly what I find most immersion breaking is the jumping around through waypoints. I hope they will introduce a mechanic similar to what they did for shipping in Settlers: you need IRL real time to travel from node to node in campaign, and of course in maps. May be with random encounters thrown in. I think that would incentivise more strategising and tactical thinking to optimise the path, and would stop those zoom zoom mappers from ruining my game.
