There are several fixed that you can do to prevent this from happen I'd say... in 90% of times.
1. Set process affinity (uncheck some cores, can be done by power shell script) For my processor with 16 cores it looks like: " Description: with this approach, you will have potentially an ability to close frozen PoE2 app. 2. There is one custom application called "PoEUncrasher", can be found on Github - https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher. It will help, but as I mentioned not always, but close. Description: with this approach, PoE2 app seems not freezes after launch, but can freeze your desktop on start sometimes, rarely while playing. 3. Some other applications, that can manipulate affinity and/or processor load for particular process. |

" Those are workarounds not fixes. Also using them reduces performance of the game. And having to install a third party program to play an AAA game is insane. Furthermore, I ask anyone who sees this message to please give a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam. I cannot send/reply to direct messages because my in-game character has not finished Act 1.
What to do: 1)Write a short review about the hard crashes in notepad. 2)Copy and paste it to steam reviews, put up a negative review. 3)Copy and paste it to steam discussions, put it up there. |

I've noticed this issue as well. Either a Hardlock when first logging in or your first load in from the Character Selection screen.
This issue has improved tremendously, 2 weeks ago it would happen 3 or 4 times consecutively, now it seems to happen only once or not at all for me. I also think this issue was related to a Windows 11 update, so not completely within GGG's control. I am not going to give the game a bad review on Steam or anywhere else. EA is exactly that, and people are seriously behaving like this is a AAA game on full release. The Dev's haven't even had an opportunity yet to start rolling out major fixes given the holidays. Additionally, I believe the Dev's tried to give everyone an early present for the holidays by getting the game out in some form of access. If you can't handle EA issues than please, don't play until some updates and patches start getting released, you only make yourself miserable and seem very childish on the forums with you incessant whining and crying. PoE 2 has the foundation to be a great game by the time it leaves EA. |

" Enter the guy who reminds us that the game is early access - like we’re all unaware of the elephant in the room. You ppl who make these comments are literally all the same. Early access or not, when u pay for a service the expectation is that it works properly and the fact of the matter is it doesn’t work as intended. Early access is not an excuse when tons of other games in EA do not behave this way. I’m fine with stuttering and maybe some crashing but these types of crashes happen strictly at loading screens. It’s not even when the GPU is under load fighting mobs and magic is all over the screen. And this is the only game I’ve ever seen in a decade of PC gaming that crashes at loading screens and requires a full reset. I’ve crashed here and there as is the nature of PC, but never in this manner. Your sheer neglect of incompetence makes me sick. The devs had plenty of time to nerf everyone’s favorite build a few days into the games life cycle but they can’t acknowledge hard crashing that puts the consumers hardware at risk? Gimme a break pal Last edited by chrisEm119#1403 on Dec 30, 2024, 11:24:11 AM

" ...and enter the child with unrealistic demands and expectations. I'm just trying to help you from being miserable or disgruntled. Have a good day, I'm above arguing with random people on the forums. |

Hi, anyone having problems then try this that I found on a comment section of Youtube. I've been having the hard crashes myself on the loading screens and since i did this little tweak, have been able to play all day today with zero problems. Load the game and then tab out and load Task Manager. Then go to POE2,... details and then scroll down again to Pathofexilesteam.exe. under Set priority, choose: real time and then your good to go. hasn't crashed once since. really hope this helps anybody until they fix the game. Oh, You Don't have to turn off multithreading ,change to Vulcan or turn off any cores and all that messing around.

On every post about PC hard locks, I see the same excuses made for GGG. It's eARly aCcEss, it's the holidays, it's Windows' fault, it's your PSU's fault...
Look, all I'm asking is for GGG to update us on where they're at with solving this issue. Are we too "entitled" to ask for simple communication after 3 weeks of the game being unplayable? If this issue were to happen in a Ubisoft game or Blizzard game, nobody would be defending them. Why are we treating GGG with kid gloves? |
