Dead 5 second after killing Olroth (expedition boss)

Did an expedition map, got a logbook, figured to give it to Dannig, a portal opened, I went in.

I placed the explosive, cleared the map and went in the hole. Everything I'm experiencing here is new to me and I was unprepared for the challenge ahead. I went in anyway and fought Olroth. You can imagine how excited I was during the fight. It was a close battle, he almost killed me near the end but I succeeded.

As I watch him die and see the loot drop, 2x exalt, 1 unique, the skill book and much more, I lean back on my chair, relieved I got him down and so happy, I check the unique item (base stats, it was a one-hand club, I believe it was "Olrovasara Torment Club") but after a few second (probably like 4-5 long second) my character just die without me ever noticing anything, I didn't grab anything cause my inventory was already full from the fight up above the hole. I just can't believe it, I just don't understand what happened. I respawned in my hideout and of course all the portals were gone. I was so mad.

I went to check a video on youtube (someone beating Olroth). I noticed during the video, the patch of ice on the ground seems to hurt you. And I realized that is what killed me at the end of the fight.

Why on earth does that elemental effect still persist on the ground long after the boss dead. Why can't I access my well deserved loot after killing the boss is beyond me. It is just so stupid...

Plz GGG do something about those late death, when the fight is clearly over, or at least the game make us believe it is, there's just no good reason to kill us. Either you keep a portal up when the skill book is still on the ground so we can go grab the reward or you make sure when the boss is dead its effect disappear and the fight is really over.

The most egregious thing about it is after that commotion I went back to talk to Dannig (NPC) and he told me this:
"That battle certainly sounds like one for the ages! The Triskelion Flame was destroyed, I take it? [...]"
Yeah that was one for the ages...

It's not stupid. Why it should stop hurting you if you stand on it????

I never ask for the effect to stop hurting me. I'm asking for the effect to disappear after you kill the boss. The fight is over, there's no better way to frustrate a player by killing him in such manner.

The exact same thing happened to my bro yesterday. He went to do the Trial of the Sekhemas for his 3rd points of ascendency. He killed the scorpion, the fight was over, he start typing to me on the steam chat to announce his victory, and while doing so he got killed. I assume he got killed by the adds after activating the floor switch in the boss room. Once again after defeating the boss those traps on the floor should get disable. Why should there still be danger after successfully defeating the boss.

There's just no reason to punish a player this way and expect no frustration from them. Sure these are noob mistake, I laugh at him yesterday but I knew this was garbage...
You could still kill yourself in Eternal Labyrinth after defeating Izaro. There is an add that periodically has reflect aura on him. Did that a couple of time to myself. After that i left the room immediately after Izaro died to avoid losing my ascendancy.

What's the difference? You have literally mob in Act1 who teach you this. At maps killing boss isn't over, even in logbook there can be mobs left.
It's so stupid man what are you saying.

Yes it’s bad design and just serves to frustrate players.

Stop lying, I can't even think of any mob doing that, quite the opposite in fact. The enemy in act 3 doing a blob of water that one-shot anyone who doesn't move out of it, as soon as you kill the enemy, the ball of water disappear instantly. There is an enemy in act 2 that cast a tornado, as soon as you kill him, the tornado disappear. The game actually teach you the opposite.

Every other game works like this. This is just common sense. I'm quite flabbergasted with your stubborness to not understand how this can frustrate players and make them quit.

Yesterday, my bro quit for the night after his unfortunate death. It was just too much frustration. I also exit the game immediately after being screwed this way. This is just psychology, there are many trick to get players addicted to your game while there are also many bad trick to lose your player base.

Yeah I'm not planning to quit the game just yet. I'm having a great time overall, but those events are the worst and they need to fix this.
You just don't kill players with stupid stuff after overcoming a great challenge, that's all. They can either make the effect disappear after killing the boss, or they can just grant you with a portal still open so you can at least get your stuff.

For me death effects and skills used before is the same shit.
Better leave now, because game will be only harder.

Are you 10 years old? You act like a little brat who never got his spanking when they should. You should be the one leaving now, you like bad design and GGG will only improve it.

Another solution to the problem would be your character screaming pain when taking damage in idle position. I was full mana when the fight was over (MoM build) I never ever notice I was taking damage, not in five second and believe me 5 second is a long time to react. At this point I don't care anymore what you think, it's just not fair to die without any warning prior to that when everything on the screen looks to be at peace.
