Merc: "Ugh...Slaves. Never any good guys just assholes"
Sorceress: "It must be hard for some people to understand our traditions"
Note that shambrin says that the maraketh shouldn't be surprised about the faridun rising up all the time because the maraketh are RELENTLESSLY BRUTAL. They are absolute slaves to tradition. Why, because it is how they survive. They don't like it but to them the other option is death. Now the Faridun should prove that maybe some traditions need to be examined since they are able to thrive, but that is not how hidebound societies work, and the fact that they can successfully put down faridun revolutions keeps them from having to examine themselves.
It is talked about how the faridun provide a mercy to parents exposing their children. It's what allows the tradition to stand. The parents are sure their child will survive, so they can do what tradition demands. The later fight with the faridun that the maraketh win helps them hold tradition to be correct. It's a rather fascinating wheel, that without either side would probably fail eventually.
Grow up, examine things clinically and understand them. You don't have to endorse agree or anything. The vaal are a thousand times worse btw.
Oh no slaves they must be the most terrible people ever. There are literally mountains of bodies you are fighting through in utzaal. the faridun have quite a few carts of bodies to feed a thing that has never ended in anything but disaster.
Both are fine. Lush land turned desert forces people to rethink their
"traditions." Vaal sacrifice their own and only got to the point of worshiping a woman because of SIN's beast.

Why are you using slaves to pull the caravan in act 2?
Why not some animals?
I really have slavery and torture, and I am very disgusted by that "artistic" choice.
Consider the possibility that it wasn't a typo from OP and that they do in fact have slavery and torture.
And that their ire is not at slavery itself but but is in fact directed at the negative depiction of it in media...
Is okay OP, I feel you - we should be more tolerant of sustainable transportation systems.

Well, considering Maraketh throwing away disabled and other "imperfect" children the word "criminal" may be quite subjective term in Vastiri.

And here I was thinking the caravan was an allegory of GGG Studio, pulled and moving forward thanks to the unwavering courage of its players (early access game, after all).
Huh? Can I file a complaint?

Bad writers do stuff like this because it's an easy and cheap way to show the world is brutal. It's a crutch, but the writing and story in POE isn't fantastic anyway. No point in stressing about. These type of tropes are to be expected given the low investment GGG puts in to the story.
