END GAME - is one of the worst gaming experiences I've ever had

Wow so where do I begin...

I will say this game has SO MUCH POTENTIONAL. The combat system, the builds, I feel on that end they hit the nail right in the head. Leveling up from 1-65 was a great experience. The enemies were hard but you constantly had progression through higher level gear drops, leveling up and also the passive skills some bosses drop that made a huge difference. This all was great with very few hiccups..

Fast forward to endgame.....

The leveling experience past 85 is depressing.

It takes FOREVER TO LEVEL... all of the mobs are level 80 or so even around tier 16. It took me almost 14 hours of play time to go from 90-91.

This is mainly because of dying. Naturally I can clear tier 15's or 16s with EASE. My ice monk blows past everything. The only issue is evasion in this game doesn't make sense so all it really takes is 1 right hit from any mob for me to die. The amount of exp you lose on a death at 90+ is INCREDIBLE.. Literally you will lose hours of gameplay experience off of one death then the cycle repeats.

but of course I can buy Omens right? And when I die I will save myself 75% of my experience. The only issue is in order to do that, I have to get lucky with loot or spend 1 DIVINE ORB to have it in my inventory.

Here comes another huge issue with end game. THE LOOT IS HORRIBLE!!! I'm running 140 rarity on my gear + rarity from maps. I usually only run tiers with 100+ rarity. So on average every single game I play I have 240 rarity. I even play on most water/swamp biome maps so I can get the "40% Currency increase". How in the world with all these modifiers am I averaging 1 EXALTED ORB PER 4 GAMES. Let me not get started on divine orbs, I haven't seen one drop IN OVER A WEEK.

Now all this together just creates a horrible experience past 85. It's hard to get experience, Its extremely easy to die and lose all experience. It's nearly impossible to gather resources to buy better gear because the divine orbs i need to trade for better gear, simply doesn't drop. I have to constantly use any exalted orbs I get on way stones to increase the modifiers.

SMH... please increase drop rates on exalted orbs, divine orbs and chaos orbs. If people can't trade then at the very least allow people to modify their gear. With the resources so scarce that is out of the question.

Please add more HP passive nodes, so that I'm not dying randomly to nonsense. Please rework evasion, there is something seriously wrong there. I have some incredible videos of me dying that don't make any sense. Even adding a combat log might help. This game has ALOT of protentional so please, I hope you listen to the community.

even if you dont die the endgame is really bad. i play with grim feast so i rarely die but i still cant level because its so incredibly slow. and the map layouts are awful. i cant bring myself to fully clear them so i barely get xp in them. but even with full clear i only get like 2-3% xp in a t15

map layouts are the biggest issue for me right now. they are absolutely awful. we need better maps

I find it really annoying to basically try to path to towers as directly as possible, then put in the tablets and hope they affect the right stuff.

I'm doing about T9s right now. I'm sure my build could do T10s easily but they just never drop and I just really don't feel like engaging in the "inefficient and frustrating on purpose" trade for every single map.

I'm just surprised people are still playing poe1.
The way evasion works is it works like a pool.

Every time an enemy attacks you, their accuracy reduces your evasion rating until you inevitably get hit at which point it resets.

The easiest way to see this is with lower level enemies struggling to hit you but eventually they will. enemies with sufficiently high enough accuracy will either ignore your evasion OR hit you on the 2nd swing, multiple enemies attacking you at the same time drains that evasion 'pool' even faster.

So even though the character page might perpetually say '75% chance to evade' that could potentially be only for the first hit meaning you only evade every other attack, that's why evasion is IMO one of the weakest defense types unless paired with high ES or equally high armor (though armor could also be considered 'weak' since it only applies to physical unless you have modifiers to convert physical to elemental)

That's why IMO Monk feels so much squishier is because they rely on Dex/Int and have little to no armor once things get through the ES and multiple hits make it feel like evasion is doing nothing vs a pack of enemies, you evade one hit just to get hit by the other 9.

thats not true, if it says 75% chance to evade you will evade 3 out of 4 attacks, not every other attack.

In moments like these, I'd switch to something lighter and more enjoyable to avoid burnout. I recently tried spinning some online slots and stumbled upon a review site where you can see more about different slots and how to play them for real money. At least there, you can immediately enjoy the game, rather than suffer through the endless grind. So, maybe it's worth giving yourself a break to re-enter PoE with renewed vigor, while in the meantime, looking for something that delivers faster results. That's the whole point of the game. I know a lot of people who get burned out playing it. But they just don't understand the whole point of the game.

There is no such thing as "the whole point of the game" as it is different for everyone. This is because the game has an open ending and it is up to a player to decide what to do and how (if anything at all) after campaign.
I agree with Op, the campaign was awesome - act 4 and the new build up to maps all excellent. Maps on the other hand are difficult. Im a Lich at lvl 75 and I cannot even get past an alched T3, Im one shot at least every other map so all the exp I gain I lose and the last 2 days have been horrific. I did finally manage to cap my fire lightning and cold res, but I now have Zero chaos- maybe chaos Inocculation > I dont know but with all 4 ascendecnies, 1300 life and 4500 energy shield, +8 to cold spells, I struggle to complete any low level maps atm and Im about done trying for now...Divs dont drop for me - found 1 and used it to get all 4 acsendencies which - need a total rework as well

90-91 should be like 5-6% per map or so. Use omens to either get back to full life/energy shield or reduce the cost to 2.5%. They are cheap like half an ex, or you can get them yourself off the rituals. So lose half a map if you use an omen, or just don't die unless it's one shot or the abyss mob that prevents regen whatsoever.

Leveling gets harder and tedious at 94/95lvl or so where one map is sub 2%. I'd advise to go left side of the atlas tree and get the shrines.

About the modifiers - just don't do it, unless you have multiple overlapping towers, do what feel comfortable and not pressured by reading/seeing what others do. In other words know your limits and don't overstretch due to 'shiny'

Last part unless you have amazing rings and amulet you run way too high rarity find.
