Why do we punish children? (XP death penalty)
|
I leveld to 100 every single league ever in poe1, i also leveld to 100 in the poe1 beta and im around lvl97 now in PoE2.
I personally like the xp death penalty and i hope it will always be a part of PoE, much like it was a part of Diablo 2. What i don't like is the 1 portal system. Mostly because this will create an all or nothing balance landscape. For example: if they were to ever nerf evasion + acrobatics from how amazing it is currently (like they did in PoE1 for the addition of Spell Suppression), it will instantly become an "unreliable defensive layer", and once its unreliable in a game with only 1 chance per map, i will simply NEVER play that again. I don't want my endgame experience to be unreliable, and so i will make content and videos suggestions players to completely avoid all builds that rely on that unreliable defensive layer. This 1 death or brick your citadel or uber boss you spent 20 hours to unlock, creates an ALL OR NOTHING, environment to me when it comes to build diversity. XP penalty is totally fine it dsnt prevent you from playing the game. You can also buy omens that will reduce xp penalty loss by 75% if what you truly care about is reaching level100, something that is completely unnecessary to actually doing endgame in path of exile. No, when you create your character, you should focus on offensive aspects just like defensive too. Poe 1 had this huge issue where death wouldn't matter really, so the optimized way of playing would just be to ignore your defenses all the way and just yolo damage and clear multiple screens which is ultimately degenerate gameplay and ignore half of the character progression.
