POE2 Solo Self Farm and Trading
I played POE1 when in its early time, quitted and highly expecting poe2
But i have kinda of disappointing, i do not see a huge distinguish difference between poe1 and poe2, here i want to discuss about SSF and Trading As someone who prefer just want to play the game, i always prefer SSF, i like the excitement of getting loot progressively, my character is growing with every choices and options i made, however poe2 SSF experience is terrible Trading made the game too easy for early to early end game, I would say you can buy enough gears with just 10 ex to hit T10 map at least, while SSF have to contribute x20 or more effort if SSF have to craft my own gears from early to end game, especially with the terrible drop rate of currencies why use your exalted orb on a single random stat that would goes bad, when you can just buy one decent gear off the trade with at least 3 - 4 good roll? the whole environment forcing player to trade as SSF provide no benefit, please learn from last epoch for the best SSF experience you may think "Trade" is part of the game, learn from it, ok i will learn what sell good for other class, but come on, no auction house? I hope GGG add auction house or make SSF beneficial Last bumped on Dec 22, 2024, 4:12:52 PM

Ditto, SSF would be way more fun if the RNG Gods had more empathy.

Is it still possible to convert an SSF character to regular league?
That probably informs the decision not to grant bonuses to SSF. That said, the game being balanced so that reaching the endgame without having to participate in a bothersome and currently nonfunctioning trade would be appreciated. It probably doesn't need much. Maybe just an extra quest reward at the end of A1, A3, A2C offering a range of items with lucky rolls, or smth. Zaanus:

They've suspended swapping for now.

" Unfortunately SSF considerations are functionally zero for the purposes of balancing at GGG. I completely agree, the game would be overwhelmingly better if SSF was balanced around being SSF, but GGG has, I think, made it abundantly clear that that is not something they are ever going to do. It's a shame. |

SSF with 100%-200% more loot and loot filter would be appreciated

SSF experience is very uneven. Basically all hangs on getting good random drops,
"crafting" is simply an extension of drop system, and just as random. Runes just don't cut it past normal. Overall it's fine if you're just generally looking for an upgrade, but once you start looking for specific stats... ooh boy. I know it's doable (and very rewarding) with a good bit of luck, but seriously... bad luck streaks feel very bad. If only they would copy Last Epoch's SSF solution... or just bring back crafting bench/harvest crafting. Basically ANYTHING that wouldn't fully rely on RNG. It's kind of funny tbh, how they insist on balancing drops around trading while at the same time keeping said trading as cumbersome as possible. Seems a bit of contradictory design. |

I believe some are still looking with nostalgia to the old Diablo 2 days where trading included opening a lobby, it was cumbersome, but you potentially could pool the drops of a few dozen people for everyone to get what they wanted.
Needless to say, it doesn't work anymore in today's day and age. I have no issue with trading being part of end game - if PoE 1 is anything to go by, I won't participate in that much anyways. But it being part of the balancing consideration for early campaign kind of lessens the experience. Zaanus:

Didn't Jonathan say something like "If you don't get enough exalted orbs to craft while leveling then we failed?" Or something like that? I'm new to PoE and maybe he said something else but I got a total of 3 exalted orbs in the first 3 acts. I got maybe 5 or 6 more in cruel. So crafting was pretty much just maybe adding an affix to a magic item and turning it into a rare item and that was about it for me through the whole campaign. Sure, I had a few shots at stuff but not much.
Seems like if they want people to be able to craft through the campaign then they need to up the currency drops. unless its intended to only craft 3 affix gear through the campaign. |

I personally also prefer SSF and mostly play SSF leagues. Only with the introduction of the currency exchange I tried trade actively once.
But the simple fact is PoE 1 and 2 are both games with trade as a core system. Trading is wanted and promoted. If I or anyone else chooses to play SSF it is our decision to put limitations on our game play. GGG was nice enough to introduce an extra SSF game mode for us. They are in no obligation to change anything for SSF. Especially because SSF characters can be changed to regular trade characters, drop rates in SSF cannot and must not be different from trade. Overall balance with drop rates will always be something GGG has an eye on and if needed there will be changes. GGG has all the data from hundreds of thousands of players and their drops. They are in the best position to balance the game the way they want it do be. For us, it is always just singular experiences with a very limited dataset. |
