Trial of Sekhemas is just unfair and not fun at all

Yes an another complain to this trial, but it really really REALLY deserve it.

Every second I spent in this trial I was reminded of how absolutely NOT FUN it was. But I really wanted to get to the end and do the final boss, but I've reached the point where I'll never do this trial again until there's a patch that completely nerf it down or a full rework.

The highlight was the Time trial, I did it once with the anti-poison charm because of the scorpion, but I got one-shotted without understanding why in a room where I had to survive. At first I thought it was because a monster froze me, so I thought I'd try again with the anti-frost charm this time.

But now I understand what the problem was, since I died the same way with the anti-frost charm and 9500 energy shield. It's the rare monster with an hourglass that loads up lots of balls and sends them all at me, doing well over 7000 damage in one go (my basic energy shield is 5000, but I thought I'd play it safe and boost my defenses with the relics).

And as it's not unfun enough as it is, I'm slowed down by something unknown in the room, making dodging among the other monsters totally impossible.

I don't think I've ever had such a frustrating experience in a video game, and yet I've played so many different games, but this is just the pinnacle of what can be done.


And to add to what's wrong with Trial of the Sekhemas :
- The honor system needs a complete overhaul, it just makes the experience extremely frustrating. I think a good thing would be to link honor to the quantity and rarity of the loot granted, or to be able to remove afflictions at will, or both.

- The Scorpion boss fight needs to be reworked, there are too many traps in the room and there are too few phases where you can do damage. When he goes underground, he should only do so once, not 3 or 4 times in a row. His ranged attack is too fast and his roll attack the hitbox is far too big.

- Obviously, you have to completely nerf the damage of the rare hourglass monster, it's absolutely not normal to take over 7000 damage in one go when my character's only defense is the energy shield and 76% elemental resistance.

- Some room afflictions are far too abused or just not fun. The ones where you can be sent to a room at random, or where you can't see the next rooms, should just be removed. The point is to plan your advance, not that I just ended up at 1 HP because I'm playing with Chaos Innoculation and I was just unlucky enough to come across the affliction that takes away my energy shield.
The movement speed affliction makes the experience unpleasant when it should just make it harder.
There shouldn't be any random afflictions, I should always be able to choose the malus I'm going to get.


I really hope we'll be getting a rework before long, because for me it's just out of the question to set foot in this Trial again at the moment.

Same experience here, love the rest of the game but this is just bad. Played for 45 min, enter 3rd floor boss room, 3 hits, game over. And no way I can adapt my char, I just can`t do it, even 10 levels more won`t change anything. Really hope they come up with something else.

The trials are completely overtuned. The first 4 points are easy to obtain, the last 4 points feel nigh impossible. The honour system is fundamentally bad design, it invalidates any build choices. My life, ES, evasion, armour don't really matter anymore, they just get abstracted into another layer that makes little sense and recovering it is difficult.

The bosses in trials are completely overtuned, it is not acceptable that I get one-tapped by a trial boss when all the magic and rare mobs leading up to that encounter have been trivial.

The bird boss is the worse offender, but I just got one-tapped by the scorpion boss. Note that my life and ES were intact, it just deleted over 1000 honour in one hit despite using all the honour resistance relics I have.
Last night, I reached 4th time trial with maximum honor with my monk than i got oblitareted in first room from a mob way outside the screen and failed. I pray the devs who are responsable for this idea have the same taste in their holiday as me.
the rest of the game isn't all that great either right now tbh. like i have to run t1,2,3 maps cause nothing else is dropping in a sustainable quantity despite going all the way to t6 & having modifiers/passives that increase waystones in various ways

aggravating trials, barely any good loot (belt slots, skill gem slots, etc), super punishing maps deaths, the constant backtracking ... it's all pretty demotivating

i gotta do this quest to complete 10 t4 maps but i can't get them to drop. can't increase the drop rate any further without those points. z z z

I think both trials—Trial of the Sekhemas and Trial of Chaos—are still frustrating. Sekhemas because of the honor mechanics, and Chaos due to the unfair debuff, especially at level 38. It's not challenging, just frustrating, and it makes me want to stop playing the game.

Bring back the Labs... they were much better.

I’d you’re having trouble with the scorpion and not even the last ascendancy then it’s really comming down to your build.

If you are struggling with honour I’d recommend getting honour resistance maybe.

I only have around 2400 honour and I did all 4 floors on warrior but I also have honour resist on every relic. But you really don’t get hit that often anyways….

Obviously you should be getting decent boons with a floor 3 sekhemas.


Just gotta know what you are doing for floors 3 and 4. You can auto pilot the first two. But…


They should not be as easy as Izaro, there’s POE1 for that. You gain massive power so it should be challenging to be rewarded with that

I posted the topic with my wrong account (I don't know why I have two accounts btw), but I will answer with my good account to your input.

I'm currently level 89 with Stormweaver Sorceress with Spark build, and I can do lvl 80 map with no problems at all. DPS tooltip is 10K with my main spell (and 5500 for my second that I just need to use once for per monster pack), and this is way higher in real situation. And I can go over 20K DPS on tooptil if use my nuke options. I can kill a boss map (lvl 75) in one second. So the damage isn't the problem.

For my defences I have 5K energy shield, 76% elemental resistances and immune to chaos damages.

For the relic I have 90% honor resistance (because I don't know if the cap is 75% or 90% can't find the information anywhere). And I use increase defense relics and boons, bringing up my shield to 9500, with increased recharge start and rate in my nodes.

Last run I had 10K honor, loose nothing until scorpion boss, where with 30% movement speed boot I just can't dodge all his attacks and believe me I'm really focused on that. So I loose around 4K honor at the end of the fight, still a correct spot for the Trial of time.

Then I start loosing honor regulary because the projectiles are not visible enough in this part. But still honor isn't a problem at this point, but the real deal is the rare monster who can shot my and I just have zero options, like I won't respec my build to get armour just for this monster, it doesn't make any sense.

And the map was level 75, so I can't do more than getty lucky on boons and trial layout...
Please stop telling them to do a rework. If you ask them to rework we will be having this trial for the rest of POE2. Please for the love of god ask them to be removed from existence both Trial of Chaos and Sekhema.

I can not play POE2 with them trying to tune it for the next two years, making me suffer them. I do not think I can go in there ever agian.

For the first time I truly know what hating something in a video game is and it has made me only be able to deal in absolutes like a sith.

Either you delete them or you are agianst me.

I'm sorry your experience was so negative.

I disagree with many of the points mentioned, you are so involved in the fact that you didn't succeed that you forget that many people did, and in an honorable way, really learning the mechanics and putting them into practice, there's no point in your thousands of energy shields, you must improve your dodge and avoid being hit, improve your rolling timing.
For the first time I saw this "orb" that releases projectiles I realized that something was going to happen, and I dodged scared by the surprise, I loved what they did with the game. I hope they don't make the game boring by making it easy because of the majority of people who don't commit to playing the video game, I did this trial with a melee character actually.
To help people who are less willing to improve their gaming skills, simply increase the size of rooms and doors so you can run around while scratching your feet.
