Warrior is Dead
I read all the upcoming patch notes and decided to hop on my warrior again to see whats up before all the changes.
Smith of Kitava - Body Armor +20% str +5% life regen / s Avatar of Fire Spear and Round Shield. Explosive Spear can burn anything which can apply exposure. Spearfield was proccing burn often. I used cull of the weak to dash in and disengage out. Spearfield. Then as they approach and kill themselves cull of the weak. Launch Frenzy Charged Explosive Spear and burn the screen. I was still figuring out how to make it scale but I was in ACT3 Cruel and had minimal deaths. Some boss fights felt long but they had trouble taking me out. Trash clear was really good. I used hybrid Armor / Energy Shield. I took the notable that applies your life regen to shield. <- this actually made for massive mitigation. Zero Shield charge delay. |

I dont see any reason to overreact like this. Warrior will be fine. Armor is strong, block is strong. AOE dmg is totally crazy. We got a lot of movement speed (45% on boots itself+sprinting). New passives, better gear (melee benefits from this the most) and less need to dumb stack str - im very thankful for the giants blood adjust.
We got ele res from armor, we got deflection, we got better hit chance for no invest, we got instant weapon swap (which alone is totally broken, if you are creative and just dont follow dumb streamer guides), we got usefull endurance charge mechanics, we got rage buffed and last but not least block buffed (Warbringer now +80% block chance to all dmg, also spells and aoe? with 30% dmg taken, busted) You can get to almost invincible level. To all those who cry about "armor is bad" they dont understand anything. How often are there 8k or more hits, you cant block, dodge, whatsoever? Its like 0.0001% of all hits in the game, get over it(deflection or just player skill). For everything else, armor is superstrong. Last edited by neosun#1001 on Aug 27, 2025, 9:36:04 AM

" I also think some people are overacting but this statement is quite bold. :P Armor is in bad spot because what truly is challenging are the big hit as: - Life is hard to scale very high (and now Giant Blood will make that even worse) - Armor have a huge diminishing return with big hit So with a pure Armor build, being OS will still be a thing. The worst is that all those armor working on elemental damages is calculated before your resist. Like could we have one thing that went in your favor for once ? :o I really don't know why they try so hard to be original with armor. A basic flat % reduc for physical damage based on your total armor & zone level is much more intuitive and so much easier to balance that this unintuitive formula based on the damaging hit. Like the preview in the character tool tip is so misleading and doesn't actually mean anything. For the block it's hard to say if it will be a nerf or a buff. We lose 25% max block chance (75% to 50% max block chance) to be able to block mostly AoE/Slam attacks so it will diminish some unexpected damage spike. But the vast majority of hit will still be attacks/projectiles and in that case, it's a direct nerf. For Deflect, it's a Evasion Rating based mechanic. So no, pure armor build shouldn't be able to deflect. Others than that, with the new support gem rework I do believe we will do overall more damage than before but survivability wise ? We will see but I'm not that optimistic. ES will still be vastly outclass everything and Pure EV/Dex build did receive a big buff (with Deflect and the Notable passive that grant life/dex). Flat dmg reduce with armor would make armor mandatory like max res now.
The very big hits are very very rare and at some point you know when they are coming and can dodge or active block. Being an invincible turtle could not be the vision for armor, there has to be a weak spot somewhere. Maybe the armor formular get a maybe needed adjust by the numbers and they copy it from acutual poe 1 and not from an outdatet version. Armor against ele dmg is also a buff, with all pro and cons like armor vs phy and the before res thing kripp pointed out, is not that much of a dealbreaker since it helps against extra ele dmg with different dmg types and totally trivialize them. I admit that you have to heavy commit to armor, if you wanna feel it. Actual formular means anything above 30k, with is not hard to get. The difference is day and night. ES nightmare is getting hit constantly and evasion had the random death thing which they softend now with deflect. Which brings us to the first point, we have flat dmg reductuon now. Deflect. And im a very concerned that this could be the mandatory thing now, like your desired armor curve, like spell supress in poe 1. Which makes me sad. Warbringer with 100% deflect and good evade, with the jade thing and 80 block is the hell of a tank now, in theory and with reg invincible and worth like 20k life and more.
