Question about Decimating strike and Full life mechanics.
Decimating strike says Hits against full life enemies remove between 5% and 30% of life, before the damage of the hit is applied. Do mechanics like " x% increased critical damage bonus, critical hit chance, or attack damage against enemies on full life" still apply when calculating damage after decimating strike occurs.

I'm reasonably certain that means no ... scratch that, I actually just think that means no, but I'm not certain at all. Someone should test that. Also if it's like I assume and it's really an inverted culling strike, meaning it'll always be 5% on bosses. Zaanus:

I have done some tests about the Decimating strike and full life mechanics.
My current result is yes - the full life mechanic still applies. Here is my testing method: 1.build a skill around 50% crit chance 2.equip unique gloves that offer decimating strike 3.hit monsters once each time for different targets 4.equip ambush support gem (100% more crit chance vs full life) 5.repeat 3. Depending on the crit result i think the full like mechs still works with decimating strike. |

Thank you for testing this!

i dont think it applies as if they were full hp. i tested this by using the amu that calls down the lightning on crit,
first i did 20 shots at act 1 boss, with decimating on, and with crit vs full hp. this should have boosted my crit chance from 16% to 32%, giving an average of 3.2/10 after 20 shots my results were 6/20, next i did 20 shots at the same boss, with decimating off. and the same crit vs full hp. the results were 8/20, ofc this testing is not 100% accurate as anything can happen and the sample size would need to be much bigger than this. but i was on hc.. but anyway i dont think it works unfortunately |

Hi, i was curious about these mechanics so i tested them in game these are my results
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mud worm = hp 16,1000 (i think poe2db is missing a extra 0 ?) 80,50 (5%) - 48,300 (30%) character nodes (210 + 159 = 369 crit multi) + 100% increase damage on full life ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ hit average damage = -non crit average : 1k -crit average 3k -crit average hit on full life = 7380k -no crit average hit on full life = 2k ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Ambush + inevitable crit + excise = 54.11% chance to crit 20,585 / 22,109 / 23,685 / 26,499 / 29,541 / 32,710 / 35,838 / 35,838 / 39,827 / 39,827 / 41,520 / 48,174 / 49,045 / 49,793 / 55,594 / 53,689 / 57,883 / 59,646 / 60,682 / 58,867 - No gems = 21.31% chance to cit 12,554 / 14,508 / 14,421 / 16,573 / 18,107 / 21,890 / 21,458 / 23,271 / 27,812 / 30,951 / 36,677 / 36,966 / 36,421 / 42,526 / 44,660 / 46,032 / 47,743 / 48,117 / 55,716 / 61,561 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Conclusion - the high end for decemating strike (30%) should be around 48,300. reaching numbers close to 60k should only be possible if the character nodes such as damage on full life and crit multi are working as if the monster is full life including decemating strike as well as having averagely higher damage on the crit gem setup. -in conclusion i think decemating strike works with *on full life mechanics* |
