Dying and loosing Exp

I will tell you something:

Last char I made got to level 91 in 24 hours.
(Had every single piece of gear, from level 1 to 80+ prepared, but still)

And no, it is not enough.
Exp penalty will stay.
My take on this would be that you only lose the EXP that you would have gained in that instance and you don't get the exp until you finish the map. I feel like that would be a good middle ground for both sides, you don't lose progress but you also don't gain it if you die in the map.

Yeah. Sure you did.
Yeah XP loss is not a fun mechanic, especially when it puts you off of trying new playstyles and class setups. I'd like to be able to experiment without the crushing weight of a single death hitting my xp bar. The game also has way too many one-shots to really make this a well balanced mechanic. If they want to keep it then at least make it only kick-in at level 90 and above.
