[Feedback] Viper Napuatzi kinda overtuned?! (Sorc. Chrono.)

Hello GGG,

been playing PoE2 since day 1 and had my moments too were I just think that some things are just too dang hard but then after like 20 to 30 tries it worked out some how. But not with this one... There is one mechanic that somehow it can not be avoided constantly.

Utzaal already is very frustrating since:
Spoiler

Viper Napuatzi -> "It"...
- jumps around allot
- Area of effect cast chain like crazy
- the poison darts in normal (Rapidfire)

Not so avoidable if the Wall Mechanic comes in to play:
- Poison Viper Wave 1 to 3-4 are ok but the last one were the whole arena is sequentially fires darts top to bottom or vise versa can not always be avoided.
- The same goes if "It" chooses only to do Poison "Rapidfire" mode.

The Class that I chose and ascendancy is:
Sorcerer with Chronomancer
With the other Bosses to be honest I had a fun time even if they were hard but not close to impossible.

Why Viper Napuatzi specifically?
Disclaimer: I do not know how other classes play and do not wish to before I reached the endgame with my Sorc.

Multiple times I had "It" to the last 1/4 of life and then that mechanic again and puff down... tried to modify my build can not since Cast on Freeze is kinda trash now - I could not optimize to Lightning or Fire. So I am stuck with the situation I am and move on. But that boss with the current setup is not ok...

Sorcerer:
- You want to cast (Wind up and then you cast...)
- You want to use Comet (Wind up with Cast Time then maybe you hit...)
- Frost Bomb (You cast and then you'll have to wait till it explodes...)
- Everything you do as a Sorc. is punished with slow movement and cast time.
- Additionally some skills come with limitations on added cool downs and damage penalty's

Thank you for reading maybe someone here has a cheese for Utzaal. I was close to rage hard on that boss ;) (Lots of Symbols and Bleeps!!!) :D

Sincerely
Sig.

Thing that helped me was gambling for 2 chaos resist rings and switching some gear into evasion, i still dont understand if i roll dodged thru spearman attacks or it was just lucky evasion.
I had a lot of trouble with the poison spears at first.
Spoiler
In that phase, stand close to one side and focus on running (NOT dodge rolling, or you will move too far) up and down the line to avoid the ones who are about to fire. Napuatzi seems to be immune in this phase and doesn't do anything other than trigger spear waves, so forget she exists and focus on the legionnaires.

When the final wave attack charges up, move back towards the middle a bit so the legionnaires don't stab you as they close in, and dodge across the wave as it comes down the line. Napuatzi has no recovery time after the spear phase and will usually start throwing her poison attacks at you immediately after the wave, so be ready to react.

Took me more than 20 attempts to do this fight in Normal, but managed to one-shot it in Cruel and it was all about getting the hang of the spear phase.
I tried this fight maybe 10 times before I finally got it.

Spoiler
What worked for me was to consider the spears phase a pure rhythm game. Don't even try to look if you're in a safe spot, you'll mess it up by thinking too much. The timing is very regular, so just dodge roll perfectly in rhythm, and you shouldn't take any damage.

Of course, if you already know you're bad at rhythm games, this advice might not be for you.

After mastering the spear phase the fight itself was fairly easy. She only really has one strong attack you have to watch out for (the snake), the rest wasn't even worth dodging.

Only one problem is your low chaos and phys resists when you first meet.
All mechanics are avoidable, and she is chalenging but fair fight.
And yes i died a lot on this encounter but i never feel that it cant be done if i dont miss any moment in fight.

I even think that at cruel she too weak. Mb need to tune it up by hp or something. Cuz at cruel she died without ANY problem and a bit faster.

And i think that she is ok, but other bosses in 3rd act = totaly suck, even doriany ( he just fat and have stages ) so she is the only chalenging thing in act 3 so feels overpowered but it isnt.

Just compare how much trouble ppl get at wolf and with her and at which stages of progres you meet them.

You either buy some chaos res gear on poe trade, or you have to learn how to dodge the add mechanic everytime so you can do it with no chaos res.

Or you buy a weapon on poe trade that lets you do enough dmg to kill her before you see mechanics. Im guessing for a single exalt orb you can probably double or triple your dps unless you already have a +3 staff with 100%+ incread dmg which are 1ex right now.

You're a chrono, you don't even need to dodge big hits if you have enough eHP since you can just reset every time you take a big hit. Big hits usually don't come more often than your CD. Just don't stand in the poison.

Or get more resists or damage as other people have said. If you're having trouble, you're probably just mis/undergeared.
Hello to all,

I want to thank you all for the great advice and have to say after some gear change it was more manageable. Still hard but fair - I found some things out and do not think that GGG intended to make it work that way.

All I can say is
Spoiler
Frost Wall break stuff! ;) Even that boss.. (Push the Boss to a place were Comets will rain.) on the spear phase's I did a little close Wall hugging at the top or the bottom. The reason is that the Guards want to push you back. So you dodgeroll in to them to extend your iFrames and that is what got me thru the fight. At first "IT" Was in full Poison mode no chance there on the second fight it was normal and then things got nice and comfy. :D

Thank you all again
Sig.

This boss feels way overtuned to me. I've been trying to get past for some time and it's been tough. Capped chaos res helps, maybe I'm bad at the game.
For people struggling with the spear phase, Raise Shield does work. If you don't have a shield, you can weapon swap.
For spears also remember the dodge roll makes you immune to dmg for about 0.1s or so when you use it.

If you get the hang of it you can just dodge at the right time for every spear action and it doesn't even matter where you dodge to as long as you do it at the right time, you will take no dmg.
