This game is probably not made with HC mode in mind

I do not know how many one shot mechanics are in the game.

But I am willing to bet that most of what people are thinking are one shot mechanics, aren't. They just have low enough health & defenses that they are dying in one hit, not because it's a one shot mechanic, but because that's just the math.

My ranger gets one shot by things that I know are not one shot mechanics.
It's an evasion character with relatively low health, armor, and energy shield, so that's just how it is. I get one shot because the attack isn't evaded, and does enough damage to empty my health+shield from max through my lack of armor.

But that doesn't make it a one shot mechanic. A one shot mechanic is something that just kills you as it's effect, damage and defense being irrelevant. Death as a status effect, essentially. If it's possible for someone to have enough health+defense that they survive the hit, its not a one shot mechanic.

By one shot mechanics I meant attacks that deal extremely high damage, higher than what players can achieve, realistically. No, I did not mean one shot mechanics as in attack killing you out right without consider how much your Hp and resistances are. I think the problem lies in itemization, I think they need to improve item lvl of item dropped for each of the act.

Talking about itemization, unique items are SORELY underwhelmed, is it too late to improve them?

Neither have most of the posts complaining about difficulty.
They're complaining about campaign being difficult.
Which is incorrect.

I'd certainly like to see some or all uniques made better, because uniques.
But as far as design philosophy goes, the uniques aren't supposed to be better than well-rolled rares. Unless, of course, they're the best option for a hyper specific build.
Uniques are specialized loot, not simply legendaries/exotics like in other games.

In the context of this thread, we are only talking HC league. For regular league, you die you try again no problem, yes it’s not hard. PoE is a pretty long game with very extensive end game, deaths in HC mode will hurt a whole lot more because it’s permanent, you’ll lose all progress as you die.

I know, I'm a HC player myself.
The biggest (only?) actual threat IMO is Zalmarath.
Getting an anti-freeze charm before him is not easy, and sometimes his sword attacks hit and one-shot you (in my case through both my mana and my HP pool, as I had MoM) despite being half the arena away.

I also had some issues with Jamanra, specifically the lack of visual clarity and not seeing the adds for Jamanra 1 and Asalas shield for Jamanra 2 during sandstorm, but activating HP bars above enemies + allies solved that issue for me.

EDIT:
Add the white gorilla boss in act 3 to the list. I forgot the name.
He also tends to one-shot lol
