Why does the standalone client performs better (latency wise) than the Steam version?
Having played both versions for a while now I'm curious of why lately the steam version has a higher latency compared to the standalone client, for example:
On steam 3 out of 5 times the ping will get to 21k before disconnecting me and afterwards it won't let me connect again, while on the standalone client this only happened once in Act 3. It's there a reason for this? I've played path of exile mostly on steam on previous years and I don't know what happened because now the game there it's almost unplayable. Prob because you have the Steam app open eating resources, too.

I'm on steam and my latency is usually in the 30's. Last two times I had any serious issues were 1) a ddos attack and 2) an internet pipeline issue on one of the connecting nodes having nothing to do with POE itself.
General discussion gaming forums are almost always a cesspit of ignorance and trolls.
