Better Performance for Low Tier Computers

There are plenty of optimisations to be made. Even a decent rig is challenged by current poe2.
"
Another example: Last Epoch performs 10x better and while Last Epoch graphics aren't as good as PoE2, Last Epoch has like 10x mob density and particles. Last Epoch devs is arguably 50% smaller than GGG.

The list goes on. Even reaching outside of ARPGs for performance. Same results. From when I turn the graphics up and down on PoE2 I see very little in visual differences, which I understand everything isn't exactly visual under the hood.. But still..

Hahahaha, aside from the tedious endgame poor performance is probably the number one complaint regarding that game you'll see most often

I have more or less performance problems with a lower PC, but its bettert than an older laptop without separate grafic card.

Rizen 1300
Geforece 1080 Ti with 2.x GB RAM
8 GB RAM (only)
SSD

Interesting facts about playing with that config:

a) RAM is important!
b) Server workload is important (means # players in game)
c) town loading times are dependent on MTX loads of other players

Before patch 3.19.2 (the so called "performance patch" ...) all run well except when PoE 1 spawns many mobs.
I could play with >10 open browser trade tabs.

This patch shifted graphic (and other?) processing from CPU to GPU and so GPU RAM became more important.

After this I lost about 50% of my PoE performance!
This was a big problem sometimes and a medium the other times,
it changed from patch to patch.
After 3.19.2 I had to close some or ALL browser tabs to play PoE 1.

Last week when nearly all players played PoE 2 performance of PoE 1 was better than ever last years.

I played D4 on lower settings without any issue.

D4 is not a good example, because it's running on an in-house engine made by a multi-billion dollar company that has the budget to hire the best of the best, and they also have a lot of experience working with low-end PCs. D4 in general is also not as CPU-heavy as PoE is. As far as I'm aware, Blizzard's engine has its own methods of dealing with potato PCs, but it's a bit much to expect the same from GGG. While they are no longer a small studio, they are far from Blizzard's level in terms of budget. It also makes no sense to invest into this area because hardware surveys clearly show that people's hardware is going up a tier. iGPUs are not even considered for gaming, so they make up the bottom of the lists.

Its a perfect example. Shows that its an optization issue, which is the point of the post. Whether that is affordable or not is a completely different topic.
