however, If i only cast fireball, I feel im not doing something right. just awful experience since I started doing breaches n rituals at tier 14+
You really have to watch out for Map Mods. All the Prefixes are bad ones. Enemys gain X% of damage as Extra Damage of X Element, Play hase -X% max Resistances, enemys penetrate X% of elemental Resistance, also increased enemy ailment treshold brick our build sometimes when we cant freeze anymore (or only rarely, maps take forever). All these mods are fine for themselfes on the map alone most of the time but get really really dangerous for us in breach and ritual since we are getting swarmed so often and fast, 1 little mistake and we are dead.
Also its fine to cast Sigil of Power, Cast your flamewall and the step in the breach, shoot a couple of seconds until nothing is approching us anymore and then move into the desired direction of the breach, spamming our fireballs and a casual curse on the rare mobs.
I bought a rare belt with 2 charm slots, to avoid getting stunned or frozen, are there other methods of getting stun/freeze resistance besides charms?
and alos GRIM FEAST, was THE changer for me regarding breaches, the doubling of energyshield gets me too 15k eHP (you can get oneshoot still), but its much safer.
I dont know abkut grim feast but using arctic armour and archmage currently, already using all 190 spirit

I believe it's generally a choice between Arctic Armour and Grim Feast.
Both have pros and cons, so it comes down to personal preference, and Grim Feast doesn't do a whole lot against bosses I believe.

Well I bought a new amulet and gave it the cheap charm slot anoint so I can have some freeze safety, and that let me beat 3 trial Sekhmet (Though note to self: I think next time I go in, I'll briefly unspec EB and reapply it when I get in so I can have high damage and high honour).
The divine I spent on the amulet was instantly returned to me 'cause the third boss dropped a divine haha.
And now I finally have extra exposure so I can delete things even faster.
Edit:
@highertimes What is the strategy for mana drain rares? My go to at the moment is:
Step 1: Panic
Step 2: Spam mana pots and ice walls
Step 3: Cry, scream, throw fireballs
Step 4: See who survived
Edit:
Also I dropped down to 89% recoup, but got about 500 extra mana. Got a few points of extra spirit too, but, totally wasted unless I get a better chest piece. Not enough to run Clarity outside of Blasphemy. Fireball tooltip is officially over 9000, and I think Cold Exposure is now stripping away 78% resistances lol
lmao, mana drain rares!
I'll be honest, my go to was your #1, PANIC!
I've started to just try and ice wall them as soon as I see them, but if they have speed mods or something and run at me, I just logout str8 up, lol. Can't afford to lose my exp @ lvl 91, it's depressing.
I think that's probably a decent idea to drop some mana recoup for more mana, but again I don't fully understand how much 80% vs 100% really is. We can get the belt corrupted for an extra 5-8~ as well.
"
How does this compare to the Spark build of NickTew? In terms of damage/survivability and clear speed?
Spark in all honesty is probably better than this build for the same rate of currency spent. I just went down this road early and am being very stubborn to switch off. I think I'll run this as long as I can and possibly switch over just to do something new/different. I do believe the spark version of a sorc is better in general.
"
Have you tried using cof comet instead of frost wall?
I have not. I started with comet before it got nerfed, but I do think you could be onto something there w/ comet. I'll try it out for a bit and let you know how I feel. Have you used it, do you recommend or are you just asking?
"
@Zephryl@HigherTimes could you please post skill tree for lightning tech?
I always try to keep my maxroll guide up to date, just check the changelog there as well to see notable changes.

As I play, I feel our class is super squishy. I cap out res, following highertime now, with 3k mana.
As doing map is fine, but doing rituals and breach is nightmare.
I am noob, I find it so annoying that beside casting fireball, I force myself to cast frost wall and sigil on breach and ritual. this allows mobs to swarm at me, time cost to frost wall and sigil then spam fireball kills me alot.
however, If i only cast fireball, I feel im not doing something right. just awful experience since I started doing breaches n rituals at tier 14+
So, yes, this was mentioned early and often when it comes to this version, you will feel squishy, but the trade off is that you feel very powerful in comparison to the version without EB. The key is, you need a high mana pool to do said bigger damage. This version won't work with non-optimal gear that gives you the damage to kill before being killed.
This means prioritizing:
-Mana
-Intelligence (for mana)
-ES on gear (helps with EB in getting you more mana)
All these things not only give you more survivability, but more damage with archmage.
The next things you're going to need to prio for damage to make the glass cannon actually cannon are:
-Cast speed
-Spell Damage
-Skills on Wand/Focus
Basic pieces with most of these things don't cost THAT much. You can easily get a wand with preferred stats (albeit not the best rolls) for around 10-20E.
I've had my resistances @ 60-65s at times, while focusing more on getting a high mana pool with good enough fireball damage to not care so much about defenses. The build isn't easy to gear for because it's truly a bit different and requires a bit more than a standard version that has life/ES. It's something that shouldn't be used, until you have enough currency to buy gear that can handle it well.
I would say I have medium T6+ mana on each of my gear then cast speed. For es, its definitely mid, was doing OP withiut EB build with 4.1k es and 2k mana. Now mana is at 3k with your build.
Damage with fireball is 17k now

That reminds me, I did corrupt a belt that got +6 to mana recoup, I didn't use it because it had less ele resist but I'm way over-capped at the moment until I change some other gear so I can probably use that and go back to 95 recoup.
Recoup is over 8 seconds, so, I think these smaller adjustments probably aren't hugely impactful... if we were playing Chrono and getting recoup over 4 it would be a bigger impact, but I'm not sure Chrono offers anything else particularly worthwhile.
Lightning will for sure be nerfed in some way, though honestly I expect Archmage will take the hit which is unfortunate for us as well. Fireball is also, IMO, more satisfying to use overall.
Yeah I've just been having a good ol time lighting my screen up with fireballs. The spark build just looks bland and WAY too meta for me. Powerful/amazing, probably, but just not for me atm. I'm gonna keep running this till the wheels fall off.
Once you hit a certain point with damage, ritual becomes pretty easy. Breach, still a bit harder.
I can't stress enough if you're playing the EB version...DO NOT STOP MOVING INTO SMART/SAFE AREAS WHILE FIGHTING!!
Standing still with our survivability is asking to die. You have to move around and away from danger. NEVER go into or run at a rare pack until it's completely dead and potential ground effects and done and gone. Can't tell you the amount of times I've just been blasting and walked into ground effects from a dead rare. Just gotta be more patient when you play a build like this, unfortunately. The fortunate part is, you're able to kill quicker than most once the build starts cooking.
Good luck to everyone out there!

Sounding like you're on the way! Good luck out there and again, if you ever need anything I'm always on the grind!
Just dropped my first Divine, finally, and wondering what I should focus on upgrading first.
Could you take a look at my gear, there's a post on page 21 with it on, and see what needs changing the most? Except the Wand and the Amulet, that should be what I'm still using.
Current amulet is:
+5 to all stats implicit
Enough spirit to do Blasphemy + Clarity
+68 ES
24% damage as mana
Chaos Res
Strength
Max Life
The wand I'm very happy with, and I think it'd be multiple divines for minor upgrades.
Sorry just saw this.
I'd say your rings desperately need high mana rolls on them. Once you go CI you can drop a ton of chaos res on stuff and fill it in with more damage/survivability. Your focus is great for mana since it has high ES, but it doesn't have spell damage on it which will boost your damage a ton. If you want to go more cannon and get damage, you're definitely missing that. If you get mana on your rings, I guess mana innately gives you mana regen (found this out the other day)?
So your rings can literally have the mana regen replaced with probably minimal loss of actual mana regen, and you'll gain more damage/survive w/ more mana for archmage.

No worries, I ended up using my first divine on a good amulet (I think, anyway) and I replaced my chaos ring with an unsocketed ring with mana and cast speed for a few EX. I'll look into a super ring for my left slot with my other divine, I'm pretty sure a better focus would cost me a fair chunk since I got this one cheap and exalted one of the good mods onto it haha.
The 31% mana regen from my left ring equates to 40 actual mana regen a second, I'm still over 700 so I'm pretty sure I can safely drop that. I'll see what the market has.
Edit:
Swapped over to my corrupted belt which has a higher mana roll on it, which got me back to over 800 so a big mana roll definitely worth a lot more than a mana regen roll. Though both are obviously great.
Edit 2:
Got a ring, gave 2/3 of my jewellery mana boosting quality so now I'm at 4,250 mana, 97% recoup, 900 mana per second (while moving), just over 10k tooltip DPS and 0.57s cast time on Fireball.
I really wanted to hit 2 fireballs a second but couldn't quite do it, I could've gotten a little closer but I'd have dropped an extra 100+ mana and honestly close to 2 a second is good enough for me.

Just swap out wand and focus with +5 and +1. Prioritize cast speed, mana, spell, xtra lightning, +5 and +1 focus. 24k fireball and 70k EF now. My build is only worth 150ex

Just gotta keep in mind that pretty much all of our gear is shared with other top end builds, so really good items are few and far between. Basically don't expect to find many surprise bargains that you can pick up playing a more niche build

Firstly, a friendly PSA: Make sure to quality your Archmage gem.
I didn't realise I hadn't done it... Added a LOT of DPS. I was cruising along before hand, I am cruising even cruisier now.
Secondly,
I wanted to do some testing myself but it's late and I'm going to bed so I'm asking others for advice. My Fireball currently costs 272 mana, but I also regenerate 948 a second...
Do you think at this point it's worth removing Inspiration to socket a different support in?

I tried it (mind you I have a lvl 26 fireball that costs 357 w/ inspiration), and without there's just no way I could sustain spamming @ 2+ casts per second (which is where I want to be to feel comfortable and kill what's in front of me quickly). Maybe one day when we get super juiced up w/ mana regen or even use the anoint/s given to lower mana costs (Conservative Casting/Mental Toughness).
edit/
Maybe I'm really dumb, but our flame wall doesn't do damage?!
I just realized this after pumping it up to 150k on the sheet (somehow?), and wanted to go test the damage. It literally does nothing, lol. Either I'm again, REALLY dumb and don't understand the ability, or it's bugged?
I feel like it's the former, but can anyone explain flame wall then?
