I died several times, but I didn't realize it was a bug I just assumed the area of effect was larger than the animation (the ground is upheaved and rocks are flung out along the path about 3-6m from center of slice) it also extends further outward than the end of the actual slice in the ground (potentially exponentially conical at the end of the slice). Once I learned to stayed far enough away, it was a pretty easy dance.
Dodge roll = live > dps = death You can see what I'm talking about best in this video. Notice how far they are for the first slash vs the slash that killed them.
