Trigger Nerf
So, I had a Freeze trigger comet build. Before the patch every time I froze an enemy it would trigger a comet. After the patch it now takes freezing 16 normal enemies to trigger a comet.
This can't be right? I would understand doubling it or tripling it to freezing 2 or 3, but 16! WTF, My Stormweaver is completely dead and I have no gold to re-spec. This blows big giant donkey dicks. Last bumped on Dec 12, 2024, 7:41:17 AM

This is truly frustrating. At this point, the game just isn't suitable for me to continue playing. Perhaps it would be better to wait a few seasons.

absolute bullcrap. Im actually super angry atm and ready to uninstall. I built my character around freeze on cast, I made a mistake choosing the wrong vile with my first character so I rerolled, got back to where I was, JUST got things going, and they destroy my spec. Last 5 days feels like a complete waste of time.

Completely destroyed what I was running. It was getting abused by other builds, but mine wasn't even super OP lol. Still took around 10 seconds to kill a t6 map boss.
Even massive frost bomb pops won't proc comet very nicely. Frostbolt takes 10 shots to proc it once. It's dead. Essentially cast on freeze is worthless now it's a waste of 60 spirit IMO. Most of the cold setups I was testing were kind of weak in mapping, they kind of funneled everyone into cast on freeze -> comet by limiting other good options. You can't even self cast comet very well because it's slow and clunky, with exception of very specific times in a boss fight. Takes me 1.4s to cast and I have arcane surge stacking + 60 cast speed on items. - Options to swap into IMO: elemental conflux (+40 spirit) blasphemy curse (0 extra spirit unless you put extra effect gem) Can maybe start using mana storm now that comet isn't draining so much mana. - Currently running: Eye of winter, frost bomb (2), frost wall, flame wall and frostbite - Also, if I can't reliably freeze bosses anymore cold is dead. GGG, was the intention that Trigger skills should not be used for clearing?
That seems really weird an unintuitive. If the answer is "yes", then PLEASE give us all free respecs. The build is now completely dead if you were fully relying on the trigger, and is severely nerfed if you were doing Trigger + other damage. If the answer is "no", then you need to go back and retune the numbers again. With ALL of the increased energy gain on the tree, you can get 55% Increased Energy Gain. The impetus support gives you another 40%. That's 95%. A level 20 Cast on Freeze with 20 quality is another 72%. Now we're at 167%. A 2.67 multiplier. This is 13.35 energy per white mob frozen. 1 Freeze = 1 Cast would require a BASE cast time of .1 seconds. Obviously impossible. A 1 second base cast time (extremely common) would require freezing 8 monsters. With MAXIMUM investment, a level 90 character with 20q gem. Obviously most people are triggering Comet, so double that. That's crazy. Even if we switch off of Comet to some other triggered skill, there's no way to make it clear efficiently. Remember, we're giving up a support gem to get extra energy (we have to, since it gives so little), which means a "6L" has 3 supports, and those are very late-game now. 5L gets 2 supports to improve clear or damage. Do you think we can run maps with a 2-support spell that isn't Comet? If they're not for clearing, what are these gems for? Back to what I said at the start: If you don't want people to clear with these, then PLEASE give us a free respec. If we are supposed to clear with them, rebalance the numbers. | |
Way to heavy handed a nerf, cast on freeze is dead dead.
cold/stormweaver as a whole is pretty much garbage now, the only thing that gave it good dmg/clear was CoF. too tired, frustrated and worst of all poor to respec to something else. |

Meteor is also CLASSIC. I dont give a flyin F about its damage, nerf the damage fine, but dont nerf the PLAYSTYLE!! It was a satisfying and fun spec that brought a smile to my and many others gaming experience. There are SOOOOOO many other issues, like mapping system and map sustain, gear, items, etc....
