Eldritch Battery bug?

Think I encountered a bug with eldritch battery passive (from passive tree or visage of ayah item, basically transforms energy shield into max mana) - there is no increase of mana when adding points of max energy shield % in the tree.

Does it only work with energy shield gained from items or is it bugged?

I believe that is intended, since the elemental damage is calculated the same way. Bonuses to the previous state so energy shield in the case don't affect the final state of mana. Same as % fire damage doesn't affect it if you convert it to cold.

Interestingly enough thought % Increased Maximum Energy Shield on an Amulet does work. I do not believe that was intended. This should still be addressed by GGG. Additionally Dreamcatcher affects the amount of flat ES being provided by your focus so it should be applying even though you convert. Hopefully they fix this or provide an explanation as to why it should be not applying.

Not a bug. If you view the Eldritch Battery node in the passive skill tree and hover over the word "convert" it clearly states that the conversion only applies to your base ES. It means that it converts ALL of your base ES. That doesn't stop items from converting life to energy shield after the fact, which is what happens in this case.

So order of operations as intended is:

1. Base ES is converted to mana by Eldritch Battery
2. Ghostwrithe or Atziri's Disdain convert life to ES
3. Everlasting Gaze adds ES based on base mana
4. Percentage increases from skill nodes are then applied to both ES and mana

These are intended interactions which many people have mistakenly interpreted as a bug because they haven't read the "convert" tooltip on the Eldritch Battery node.
