GGG never wanted to make another ARPG, what they wanted was to work at FromSoft and this is their resume. Plays like a really boring Isometric Elden Ring. But PoE1 was run in circles to dodge the AOE. This is just roll in circles to dodge the AOE but now our dodge doesn't double as a faster method to get around the map.

Game plays identical to poe 1 in maps/endgame just no movement abilities and no quicksivser

So by identical you mean, PoE1 if it was played at .25x speed. I fail to see the enjoyment in that. It doesn't take major brainpower to dodge around in circles. I also coulda swore the enjoyable part of PoE1 was making a build and watching it power up and seeing all the mechanics fall into place. Don't recall anyone coming to PoE let alone an ARPG for its boss fights. We got Elden Ring, Dark Souls, and Monster hunter for that. This is a worse entry in all regards to that comparison.

they took idea from there

wow, innovative my arse.

at least in lost ark the dodge roll animation were different per class you played

so your necro not roll in the dirt but do a short blink

(wich can be done in poe 2 with 60 spirit reservation lmao)

I think We all should be able to replace the dodge with movement skills at no cost after the Act 6 campaign. Black Myth Wukong is about to release new contents and The Monster hunter is coming. I'm going to have a dodge ptsd for the next few months. (The game has cast on dodge though XD)

Body swap with a skeleton/ zombie? Summon a skeletal hand catching the blow?
You should get out of the way of heavy blows, but I agree that for some classes it feels odd.
A char using heavy armor should avoid throwing himself on the floor at all costs, because while he might avoid the first blow, there's no telling if he'd be able to get up in time (at all) to avoid the next one.

Press dodge only when you need to. The game doesn't tell you that you need to use dodge all the time - you make that assumption yourself.

And for the love of god, stop talking about dark souls. Dodge roll is not what makes a souls game. You can move out of the way by not dodging in dark souls as well, and when you do, you have more time to do damage.
I like it.

Fainting or stumbling would be lovely imo.

Dodge roll seems not really faster than just running but has a short immunity period (and getting-up motion which pins the character on the landing location).

Dodge Roll Changes
A lot of players have expressed frustration about being trapped in by monsters. While it is intended that monsters are able to trap and kill you, we felt that the frequency of this was a little too high.

We will be deploying the following changes in an upcoming patch:
➣Player size is now set to Zero units while dodge rolling instead of One unit
➣Some smaller monsters can now be pushed while dodge rolling. This includes monsters such as the Adorned Beetles in Keth.

This should result in getting trapped less often.

Note that you can still be trapped. A player size of a zero can still not phase through monsters, but it can get through even the smallest gap between them.

I don't understand this mechanic at all.

I thought POE2 advertised itself as a ARPG. Why is it seeming to be an isometric platformer where hitting the spacebar at the right time is the entire basis of boss combat?

Further, dodging seems antithetical to any archetype of class within an RPG not devoted to agility/dexterity.

So I kindly ask: Why is my necromancer rolling around in the dirt?

You are probably doign to much.. You need to use it only to avoid important attacks
