If loot wasn't dogwater 90% of complaints wouldn't be here
In the 20 hours or so it took me to finish Act 3 I found 1 rare item worth using, everything else is life/res magics and a few trash uniques that I sold. ARPGs are fun because we like loot, there just isn't any here. I played ruthless to around early red maps (you can't even sustain them in PoE1) and I pretty much already know what endgame is going to be like in PoE2, endlessly running piss easy waystones praying for upgrades that will likely never come, cobbling together currency to trade for gear on PoE Market. Trading is literally the only way you are going to reliably find something good.
If loot isn't fixed soon, the doomposting that is already going on 2 days after launch is going to absolutely get out of hand once a good chunk of players finish act 3, get back to doing act 1 and realizing the game fundementally is just going to be the same struggle of no loot even in the endgame. If loot wasn't garbage, people who hit a brick wall can say "ok I guess I need to farm a bit and get stronger" and thats fine. But farm what exactly? There's realistically nothing you can do but farm gold and pray vendors/gamble gives you something good and that might takes hours upon hours to get what you want. Just to patch up some res, or damage, or find new skill gems/supports. Not sure how you guys managed to keep it a secret until launch that this would have ruthless tier loot, you should thank you CBTs for having any faith you listened to their feedback and would do away with it at launch and didn't leak the forums to farm drama before launch, but here we are. After beating Doryani I feel like there is just nothing left to do anymore, I already know its just going to be a unfun slog with 1 upgrade per 10 hours or so of gameplay. " If you had gear, and didn't have to do a full ass skill rotation to just to kill 3 white mobs the maps would be fine. I run into a white pack, have to cast flame wall, into solar orb, into firestorm x2, then fireball spam. EVERY SINGLE PACK. There is no "trash mobs" that you can just throw a firestorm at and forget about them, and then sweat on blue/rare packs and bosses, its just all sweat all the way through. I'm sure this will change for me when I get significantly more damage, but how many dozens of hours is that going to be? |

I like the current loot drop rate.
I can progress through the game without ever having to farm loot. There are multiple ways to gear up: -drops -crafting -buying items from vendor I used them all, but optimized none (e.g. you could look for new items to buy at vendors after everys level up). I like that I don't need to look through giant piles of trash loots and don't have to constantly throw away my gear to replace it with the next better version after 5 min. I like that I can have a challenge and do not overgear content easily. I like that there seem to be few "tiers" of loot per act and I can stay a while in a loot tier, get smaller improvements and numbers do not become super large. |

I liked ruthless my first playthrough too, then I never touched it again. It can be fun for sure, but it will get very old/tedious and wont be a game like poe1 that you can endlessly sink hours into I promise.
