PoE 2: Monk Power Charges

While the changes to power charges feels more meaningful than PoE 1
Making power charges on kills makes them heavily limited in boss fights.

An you need to be level 26 to even get a 2nd generator.

Also it doesn't feel great having to use palm strike to get the charge to begin with, it feels like it disrupts the flow of combat - because it is a great gap closer.

One change that might work is using Pam strike creates a wisp around an enemy. If you do enough damage to the enemy that has a wisp you chain a power charge.

For normal enemies - its their entire hp bar. For bosses it could be something like 1% of their hp.

1. This helps maintain the flow of combat
2. Allows power charges to be generated on bosses easier

100%
I thought the class would be heavily using power charges, but then I learned you’re forced into the same attack skill to do it. Feels bad
It also doesn't make much sense the big damage attack you do can't be used on the enemy with the biggest hp bars.

There needs to be more ways to earn power charges - one solution could be more passive skill modifers that can offer charges.
I am not too critical, but one thing I am finding hard is to actually aim to get the final hit when there’s a pack of mobs. They are frequently behind other mobs. I am attacking mostly from far, then I have to go in the middle of the pack, but hardly hit the right one.
You Can use lingering ullusion to generate power charges in boss fight, is not guaranteed but most of the time you get the charges, just roll like crazy and hope to get one
There are other class skills that generate charges, it might be worth to take a look at them. Furthermore there is a passive that changes which type of charge skills generate.
Wouldn't power charges be useless in early game boss fights? Those seem all about using the bell to buff damage. In general build options seem to be quite limited early game for many classes (if not cross-classing), but that obviously gets better with higher levels.

Simple solution use combat frenzy aura combined with the resonance keystone and you now generate power charges on freeze and electrocute

I think its fine as it is since its a matter of build progression. As you level up you must feel your build evolving and having more access to charges is part of this progression. I have been using lingering ilusion and it generates tons of charges all the time, reccomend it.
All of this 100%. I felt baited into thinking they would be good but it's so limited
I don't run power charges as my ice monk and im taking down bosses in t16 maps in like 10-12 seconds.
