I found a solution. I was previously using comet as a self cast and had it use in weapon slot 1 only, and despite having cast on freeze in either slot, comet was being used in slot 1 only was overriding it. At least the message saying "not enough spirit" should be updated, as that was incorrect

I was running into the same issue.
You cant activate it unless you put the skill gem(s) in the slots that you want to get cast when it happens. As soon as you put at least one skill gem in you can then activate the buff. Mine was with Cast of Freeze. Hope that helps. |

I'm not sure if this is intended but if you have a spirit ability active on one weapon loadout it will make you unable to use that amount of spirit on another loadout even though the spirit bar says full. let me know if this helps!

Hello,
I am also having the same issue. Sorc/Chrono Level 45. Have 60/60 Spirit showing above mana bar but when I try to "Right Click to activate" Cast on Freeze, it says "Disabled: not enough Spirit". I have read the posts in this thread but can't seem to resolve it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, |

I figured it out. You need to unsocket the skill you want to use for your cast on set up and socket it as self cast. Hit the tab and enable the use of both loadouts otherwise when you resocket it into the cast on setup, it will not work.

I think I figured it out.
The issue happens if you have a + level Skill gem level on a weapon set that goes beyond the level of the cast on gem. That's why you must use both weapon sets, to allow using the weapon that doesn't + level Skill |

Can you elaborate on this? I have the same issue with Cast on minion death even with 230 spirit available, how can I use your fix

Quite a few "I figured it out" pots but none of them make any sense to me. Can someone explain how exactly they managed to get this cast on freeze work for example?
