POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

After last patch there's even more hangs, that's what people on steam say

For me changing to vulkan helped a lot and then I unchecked 2 cores in affinity so game does just crash itself not whole PC.

7800X3D, 4070ti with poe2 driver, win11 24h2

Same problem here. To be fair I haven't had the problem in ACT1. Only as of ACT2 it started happening.

Same issue. I initially played until mid act 2 sunday/monday without issues at all. Since then I've experienced freezes on loading screens more and more frequently. Now my PC will freeze typically every/every other zone/loading screen.

Obviously can't play the game anymore until this is fixed.

32GB DDR4
64 Bit, Windows 11 Home, Version 24H2, build 26100.2605


I've tried using that BES tool, and I tried reducing core affinity in task manager, both without any luck.

I tested for 10 minutes disabling multithreading from options inside the game, and didn't have any problems for those 10 minutes, but lagging though the game didnt seem like much of a sollution

Crashes to desktop on zone changes and sometimes when using teleport. Tried on 23H2 and 21H2 with no luck. RTX 4090 13900k 32gb ram

Any fix in sight for this? Game is almost unplayable and my whole PC has issues when I have to restart from the button.

Removing the Windows KB5048667 security patch OR unchecking processor core 0 and 1 in the affinity settings helped me yesterday.

There's no fix, all fixes people mention just temporary, because the problem occure randomly in time. The only workaround - restrict process cores the game uses, on steam there's a bat file in guides if lazy. At least you can kill the process if it hangs

After formatting my PC and downgrading from Windows 24H2 to 23H2, I’ve had zero freezes since yesterday evening.

I suspected this might work because I had no freezing issues on 23H2 while playing POE 1 Settlers League. However, after updating to 24H2 and checking out MTX in POE 1 about a week ago, I experienced a freeze almost immediately. At the time, I didn’t pay much attention to it since I wasn’t heavily invested in POE 1, with POE 2 just a few days away.

If you have the time and are willing to give 23H2 a shot, it’s worth trying. Here’s a simple guide to downgrade:

It might not work in your case if you have slightly different hardware or if the problem lies elsewhere, but it could be worth a try.

Anyway, GGG, you need to release temporary fix for this already. No game should ever cause complete PC freeze ... no matter the hardware or windows.
