POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
Same issue for me.
First day on release I had 0 issues but now I need to constantly hard reset the PC on every loading screen. I just stop playing until this is fixed - it's nonsense. We shouldn't have to limit our CPU or revert Windows updates to play this game - it doesn't happen and never happened with other games. This is for sure a PoE2 issue. Really annoying. It's been happening in poe1 for half a year. Ubisoft games were affected by it as well. It's NOT a poe2 only issue. It is a windows issue. The problem is that poe1/2 are the only 2 games left that actually cause a system crash. Even if ggg fixes it on their end, what's stopping another game from coming along and causing the same issue? Gonna blame ggg for that one too?

" Stop saying its a Windows-problem, its not! Even people who didnt update their Windows to the latest version have this problen. |

" Yeah, and I don't understand why you write "Gonna blame ggg for that one too?". It doesn't have to do anything with this problem - why would anyone blame GGG if Fortnite crashes? And as FlowFlow said, this is not even a windows issue, but even if it was, game developers need to adapt to windows updates and not reverse. This issue should be number one priority for GGG to fix - it completely disables a lot of people to play the game and potentially causes hardware issues too. |

" Sorry you dont know what youre talking about. There are several different issues here and people are mixing them. 1. Windows 11 24h2 CPU scheduler issue. Causing total PC freeze in heavy CPU load conditions, for example loading screen of PoE1/2 and lots of other games, not just Ubisoft title. This happens with higher chance on Ryzen CPUs, but not alone. Reinstall Windows 11 22h2 or 23h2 to fix this. This might also help if you dont want to reinstall Windows 11 22h2/23h2 and if youre on 24h2: Install process lasso free version, and after PoE1/2 is running, cap the cores by -2 to the process. For example if you have a 8 core CPU, set PoE exe to cores 0-5. In combination of this, also disable SMT/HT in bios. https://bitsum.com/download-process-lasso/ 2. PC instabilities. If you dont have 24h2, and your PC crashes, bluescreenes or freezes, you mostly have some sort of hardware issue and need to check with tools like OCCT for example. Mostly caused by overclock, undervolt or some other hw issue. Do bios update, turn off ALL overclock and undervolt. Do stability tests with OCCT both CPU and memomory for several hours. The free version is capped to 30m per run, so do multiple in a row. https://www.ocbase.com/ 3. DX12 is not 100% stable with PoE1/2. This is an issue which was present in PoE1 too since a long time. Switching to Vulkan might help with crashes. 4. Intel 13/14th gen degeneration issue https://community.intel.com/t5/Blogs/Tech-Innovation/Client/Intel-Core-13th-and-14th-Gen-Desktop-Instability-Root-Cause/post/1633239. If you have a Intel 13/14th gen, and you have crashes, it might be, your CPU is damaged and you need to replace it. Also do bios update to lower voltages. ! ! ! WHAT HELPED ME ! ! !
GO TO > Task Manager > Path of Exile > go to Details > Set Affinity and turn off a core or two. I guess you have to do it every time you start the game until there is a update. I've been playing this way for two days now and I have no problems with PC freezes. |

TLDR SO FAR: Nothing can solve it from our end. It is up to GGG.
Loving the gaslight though- insisting that we should revert OS version (security risk) and limit our cores (which effectively is useless) instead of calling out ggg and making this a #1 priority. Last edited by godimpulse#1516 on Dec 11, 2024, 10:51:58 AM

" Thats why using Process Lasso to automate this. The free version is enough. https://bitsum.com/download-process-lasso/ Set to autostart with windows, configure PoE process to cores - 2 on always and it will automatically set the affinity on every start. " I think you’re the one that doesn’t know what it’s going on. I was in the 23h2 and game crashed like 10 times in 2 hours. Updated to 24h2 still the same thing. 2nd I don’t have any issue, any crash any freeze in other demanding games or programs my pc is brand new (two weeks old). Everything at stock no overclock no undervolted. Benchmarks and stress tests for 6hours without any issue. 3th Even if the issue was made by an update from windows, windows is the plataform - every other program have to follow the plataform “rules” “patch” “updates” not the other way around. |

@fallenmask#6554 Bla bla bla, bla bla bla bla. Maybe go back and read again, this time, properly.
