POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

Problem might be with AMD CPU, lots of complain have AMD CPU and I asked my friends who don't crash they have intel so...
Surely GGG wouldn't take our money and dip for Christmas without fixing this issue and leave us waiting until January for even an update right... /s

FIX FOR FREEZES and LAG

I had 30-40 crashes and frezes per day, last few days made same adjustments with POE2 folder in user/appdata/roaming - disabled windows antivirus scaning folder, and after that i had ZERO crashes last 3 days!!!

1. Click on Shield of Microsoft Defense

2. Virus tread Detection -> Manage Settings

3. Scroll to the bottom --> Exclusions -->Add Exclusion

4. Add Exclusion --> Folder

5. Navigate c:\Users\xxxxxxxx

xxxxxxx - is you user

6. Click on the address bar and add \appdata and hit Enter

So in the bar should be c:\Users\xxxxxxxx\appdata

7. Get into Roaming Folder

8. Get in to Path of exile 2 folder and choose that folder

I think the game is building shaders or something when enter game or level, and antivirus start scan and locks up the computer!

I hope more people get resolved by this!!

It's not, in this thread there are dozens of intel cpu's crashing. amd is just the most popular because of the ratio cost/performance.

Okay, I think I found an actual fix. So setting the affinity of PoE to disable the first two cores will prevent your computer freezing, but PoE still gets stuck in a loop at 100% CPU without being able to make progress. When this happens, you can set the priority of PoE to realtime and whatever it's waiting on is then able to get scheduled and PoE unfreezes. You should then change it back to normal priority when the loading screen si done.

The new version of PoEUncrasher detects PoE freezing, and then does this to unfreeze it, resetting it after the loading screen automatically. The new version is up at https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher/releases/tag/v1.2.0. Note that you will need to run the program as an administrator for the unfreeze feature to work. If you don't run it as an administrator, it'll say it's setting it to realtime but Windows will actually set it to High and PoE won't unfreeze.

Hopefully this works for others!

Your tool saved my PC from crashing so many times, can't thank you enough, others should give this a go.

I have an intel i7 9700K, 8 cores 8 threads, if I don't launch anything besides poe2 I can play for a few hours no problem (with the occasional exception where it freezes after 2 loading screens) btw it only freezes for me on loading screens never during the game. Now if I load 3 static tabs (text pages with images) in firefox while the game is running it will start running worse and worse until it freezes like 30 minutes later. If I load even 1 dynamic tab (youtube video) especially one that is playing a video or a stream the game freezes on the next loading screen. And it freezes the whole computer. If I set affinity for 5 out of the 8 cores I can play no problem but the game runs like crap when loading new map chunks or FX and if it freezes it instead crashes to desktop and closes itself down. If I set priority to less than normal I can play with a youtube video in the background for about 15 minutes before it freezes the whole pc.

8 hours says nothing. I got a full week, over 100 hours between crashes on 24h2. 9800x3d 4080 super. "I've fixed it by swapping to xxx" is probably in most cases pure copium

There are three options:

1) Try it and say "thank you, it helped!"
2) Try it and say "it doesn't work"
3) Write your pessimistic thoughts in the thread...
