Posted this in the other thread as well, but would be curious if it works for people:

For those who are having the issue where your PC hard freezes during loading screens, either this tool or the manual workaround (setting the process affinity of PoE) might help: https://github.com/Kapps/PoEUncrasher/

Is this a permanent fix or do we have to run the script every launch? If it's permanent, how do we reverse the script's changes?

It doesn't modify the PoE executable itself, all it does is change how Windows allocates CPU resources to it. You have to have the process running while PoE is running. It'll undo its changes after every loading screen, and nothing it does persists after PoE closes.

Tried the script and sadly doesn't work for me, I have a ryzen 5600g so it was just a desperate attempt, thanks anyway :)

Actions speak louder than words and it truly seems like they just don’t care enough to provide any dialogue on the matter. I doubt we hear anything this week or next week cause of the holiday so I wouldn’t expect a fix until 2025, if that.

Just to be clear, this app doesn't magically fix the crash. What it does is to prevent the whole computer from freezing when the crash occurs.

following worked (for me) and game stopped freezing completly, nothing else worked (tried everything with cpu/fps lock, nothing worked) :

make a exception in the Windows defender for follwing folder: "C:///User/User/appdata/roaming/Path of exile 2" --> restart computer one time --> no freezes and much smoother loading without any lag -->

windows defender was checking the shader cache everytime while it was created during the loading

This is the way!! Game is way smoother.

This is probably the most underrated solution! I confirm, the problem is gone and the loads have become very smooth! Some time ago, I noticed that Windows Defender started very aggressively checking new files and loading the processor. POE 2, when loading locations, creates many cache files in this folder, and the defender starts actively checking them, somehow overloading/breaking the system.

I recommend everyone to check this solution!

The problem isn't gone, you're just going to hit the same issue sooner or later down the line. The only 100% sure way to avoid the problem, the same as GGG recognizing it in Known Issues thread, is to disable "Enable Multithreading" in Graphics before logging your character, taking portals or going through loading screens. It takes a bit to get a habit of it, and if you don't want to keep playing at 30 FPS, just re-enable it once you're in the map.

It is very cumbersome, but that's the only way to ensure you don't have a hard lock until permanent solution is found by GGG.

This did not work for me. 7800x3d, 4080s. Crashed upon zoning immediately after doing this.
