POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
" For my setup I've set it to be two "Windows managed" page files, each on separate SSDs. This radically improved performance and stability, but I don't really have any explanation as to why. Prior to that loading was taking forever and crashing more often than not. We need an expert, like someone from GGG. PoE2: A good, giving game

This one apparently worked for me: https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExile2/comments/1h8h25s/comment/m0yi3sd/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

" I played A3 for about three hours on Thursday night with my new character and the game didn't freeze... but then it froze on loading the next location after the cemetery. :/ | |
I was having the issue of hard crashing today for the first time. Would hard crash any time I attempted to load in. I thought it was related to me installing 24H2 because I had done that today. I waned to check troubleshooting before I rolled back the windows update so I eventually found some advice here saying turn off multithread. It let me get through but was turning my FPS to shit. Was looking at the DxDialog that the GGG employee wanted us to send them and sail one of the failures that was noted was LED keeper 2 which is MSI software. On a hunch I exited MSI center and turned multithread back on. Been playing for a couple of hours with no issue so far. Have totally exited and rejoined the game as well without crash where before it would hard lock my PC. I will update if it begins to crash again. I can't believe it would be something so simple.
7800x3D 4090 Windows 24H2 Edit: About 20 minutes after this post it crashed again. I suspect it is related to the new version of Windows. Last edited by Vulkeg#3693 on Dec 13, 2024, 1:13:17 AM

9800X3D, 3080.
This started happening for me when I enabled the new Ryzen X3D gaming mode, which adjusts core count and simultaneous multithreading (SMT) settings. Crashed on loading screens twice, had to force reboot both times. I disabled it in the BIOS and all is well again. |

I'm curious if the issue has to do with which launcher is used. I haven't had any of the crashing issues, but started to look into things because my gpu fans were running louder than any other game (despite being only ~73C). I run the game through the Epic Launcher normally.
I only saw people mentioning Steam when discussing the issues, so I decided to try the standalone version. With this, my CPU usage went from ~15-25% normally to 80%, and spiked to 100% on loading screens and froze to the point that I had to hard shut down my machine. I removed and went back to the Epic Launcher version and everything was back to normal (I just turned down the Shadows+GI to High to drop the GPU temp and noise). For context: Win 11 24H2 3070 TI AMD 5800x3d. Game settings maxed. DLSS Quality output to 1440P. DX12. Epic Launcher: 90%+ GPU usage,65-75C. 15-25% CPU usage, 60-65C. Standalone Launcher: Similar GPU usage, 80%+ CPU usage, ~75C and crashes when loading to new area. |

I can't believe they haven't fixed it yet.

" I am using msi afterburner with riva tuner. Will try to play without and see if it helps. |

" This has nothing to do with what the whole thread is about |
