My Bonestorm/Reap Blood Mage starter for PoE 2 - THE JOURNEY PAID OFF
" Hello fellow Exile! Thanks for all the nice words, I really appreciate them a lot! More coming from new players like you. First things first. Your build idea seems actually doable, sadly I'm not a great DoT enjoyer, I don't like that type of playstile, my lizard brain needs instant gratification and dopamine hits so I always try builds that deal damage immediately, so my advice in that matter is the same as the average Reddit user, I'm really sorry. I've played some curse oriented builds in PoE 1 before such as Hexblast, maybe that's the way BUT DON'T TAKE MY ADVICE AS HOLY WORD, please, I'm really ignorant about DoT/Curse builds. Now talking about Blood Magic, the travel to that Keystone is really long (specially now that I've gone to the opposite side of the Tree for Power Charge synergies) but it's doable and seems like it's not a COMPLETE waste, since we have the Notable Battle Fever, which grants a 5% cast and attack speed (we only care about the cast speed in this build) and 25% Increased Physical Damage (that's great because it's a global buff, that affects both Attacks AND Spells, and the Boner Stormer is a Spell) and some defensive Notables such as Prism Guard, so I believe there's some interactions we can do there. Not trying to be mean here, but another Exile in that post commented that he tried to take CI (while playing a Blood Mage, when Sanguimancy LITERALLY SAYS that Skills cost Life from that on, please do not take advice from people who don't understand basic mechanics/interactions, NOT SAYING ANYTHING BAD ABOUT HIM, WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES AND THIS GAME IS A PROCCESS ABOUT TRIAL AND ERROR, SPECIALLY WHEN THE GAME IS NEW, THERE'S NEW MECHANICS AND THERE'S A LOT TO TRY, but we always need to have critical thinking and have common sense when we put our time into things that do not make sense even doing. Got myself into a COMPLETELY UNRELATED tangent but that's my best advice for a new player into this game, there's some baiters and untrusftul people in this community (gonna call out Path Of Exile Builds YT Channel, that guy is the bait master who gets people into his paid website full of cancerous and invasive ads, only for poorly-made builds, when you can search that information FOR FREE and in great detail with even more great advice from other content creators), and that drive me crazy mad, again, it's not personal about the CI comment, it's about the point I'm trying to make. Just enjoy the game man, try things, explore, have a good time with everything you try and test, but be careful about some things out here, because this game TAKES TIME, and not everyone has that ammount of TIME to learn themselves unique interactions, you said that yourself, and WE as a community NEED to stop making casual players waste their time and have a negative game experience because the little time they put into the game, they followed a guide that either was objectively bad or maybe it's a hard-to-put-together build what require experience and time to learn how to do it. Again, got myself into a COMPLETELY UNRELATED tangent, but you said you're relatively new, and I've played this game hands-on, since Bestiary league, quite a time ago, and I kept seeing this pattern with bait content which keeps making new players have a really negative game experience and this game is really, really good and fun. With this post I hope to make 2 points: 1- Make visible the type of proccess it requires to make this build put together into an actual overall public (actually is on the making, people are enjoying it but I'm trying to make something like old school Tornado Shot, a type of build that nobody could say it's bad because it wasn't by any means, something like that). 2- Getting something into this community, I'm not trying to make myself a way into getting known for my stream (I'll try to become a content creator for this game for sure), that is a closer medium between those who want to play the build and me, who's trying to make this build a name in the meta, of course there's some broken builds that are objectively better than this, but also a lot of people is saying they're having fun and that's what makes me happy, getting other Exiles enjoying the game as much as I do with the things I like to play. " Hello Exile! I didn't even try that type of interaction since the Reaping Staff base is, at this moment, literally the One Piece, and i think as it as a waste of time trying to put time into something that's not tangible at this moment when other cool interactions are being found that can affect the immediate state of the build right now, so no, I'm really sorry. When that base becomes a reality FOR SURE I'll be testing a lot of stuff! GLHF Exile! |

" A note on blood magic for those interested in it. I have tried BM and it does not remove the cost of mana to hp. What I mean is if bonestorm costs 66 mana and life to channel with sanguimancy, once you take blood magic it will transfer that mana cost to life. So in this example it will cost 132 hp per second. " Thanks for the detailed reply! I sent you a DM. BTW any advice how to progress early? Just got to 7 lvl! Best Yatsu |

" Hello there! My best advice is to get unearth + some damage support with Essence Drain + Contagion for the early levels since it has an "OK" base dmg to pop enemies in the first few levels, but it doesn't really scale that well easily so as soon as you can get Bonestorm get it and play with it. It's good because: 1- Getting used to it early WILL help you with the mechanical tricks the skill has, and for later stages of the game getting those mechanics gameplay-wise will make a day and night difference, specially the channeling-timing trick. 2- Just clear the mobs that step in your screen, early on the skill isn't particularly the best with only 2 supports, as soon as you can get a 3rd support slot on it, then you'll have the actual experience. The best early gem set-up is still in discussion, but there's 2 kinda good overall combinations: A) Bonestorm - Brutality - Arcane Tempo B) Bonestorm - Arcane Tempo - Pierce (you'll deal 0 damage but "clear better") Get Inevitable Critical ASAP. that'll boost your damage quite significantly and if you Ascend into Blood Mage and spec Sanguimancy, it'll help you survive even more. Firstly thanks for this developing thread - it gave me some hope after my minion-master went Blood Mage and I was feeling a bit dispondant.
I was trying the fireball + blazing spirits + skellys and using Bonestorm as DPS however the minions deal negligible damage even with *HEAVY* perk investment so I respecced (still waaay too expensive to change) to have a bit of fire but it didn't synergise and the bonestorm was still better so having done some research I found this thread and decided to start switching over to all in, full bONER action! My main question is: if I drop the flame spirits/3x fireball/fire curse what should i put in stead for some more spammy type of damage? I currently have bonestorm + the reduce armor curse + the chaos draining hex, bone cage and then I'm stuck for ideas on spirit use (not minions!) and other damage types Also lastly, here is what I think of when someone says 'Bonestorm' Simpsons Last edited by Phototoxin#0222 on Dec 10, 2024, 6:54:47 PM

what happened with bonestorm? Can't link potential with it
Is anyone able to link a build that incorporates resonance and the relevant notables tied to generating power charges? I can't find anything anywhere.
" Yeah i encountered this too, either they removed it because the spell already uses them or it's a bug with the latest patch |
" Hello Exile! It seems you can't link Potential into Bonestorm (realized in today's stream), which is insanely rare because even the devs recommend putting those gems together, it might be a bug or actually you can't use it for some external reason, so I'll keep an eye if they change that. I'll be updating the post with the progress of today. GLHF Exile! |
