POE 2 Passive tree.
Plan your build while playing the game. There is no "oh I'm locked because I can't respec" anymore. Just spend some gold to unspec some points ...

Pretty sure ascendancies cant be respecced, would also like a planner/skill tree prior to go live... this whole data leak blah blah nonsense is soo frustrating. Its for marketing and hype building, most players that have supported GGG over the years really want this.

" You will have that before the game goes live..... it's called early access, you'll have months to plan builds that will inevitably get nerfed cause they're godmode or create loops that crash the servers. GGG can't foresee all the skill/item interactions ppl will come up with and things will change alot in the coming months |

" I'd rather spend time in the game playing then staring at the skill tree. Respec is also a big what if till we see it in action. If the cost is too prohibitive than it might as well not be a feature. We also don't know the max amount of points we get to spend (that I know of) which also might result either not reaching places or not spending points on the off chance we can't reach somewhere. At best I'm assuming the minimum is 100 for 100 levels... wait sorry 99, you start at level 1 I think so no point for first level. Last edited by Ashgan9#6435 on Dec 3, 2024, 8:09:34 PM

" Honestly, weather I have days, weeks, months to plan builds depends on how much enjoyment I get out of the game. I am not here to do meticulous testing (I am here to experiment and have fun and give feedback around what I find fun/not fun). What I don't like is during my limited gaming time, to spend the first hour looking over the tree, skill gems, ascendancies, etc looking for the highest coefficients to level with (I would prefer to do that in advance, vaguely, so I can keep gaming knowing I have a rough idea and direction in mind) - which is what a pre-release skill tree would do for me... even if its all changed later... I just hate leveling with skill A, knowing I would of been ~20 levels ahead if I chose skill B (I feel like I wasted my time) and its because that choice wasn't clear (if I have all the info and make wrong choice, thats on me and I accept that). I dunno hard to explain my mentality, I am weird. |

" you're not weird at all. i too prefer to GAME during my gaming time and "research" during "non gaming" time. hours spent researching during gaming time is "wasted gaming time". for an example if i could access poe2's passive tree now, i could look at EVERY cluster i can APPRECIATE the tree thoroughly. when i start gaming, i ll be able to FOCUS on killing mobs, leisurely spending time listening to the lore/cutscenes, exploring the areas etc. if during my limited gaming time, i would SKIM through the passive tree and in fact due to having to spend time reading through the tree, i would SKIP voiced dialogue and press forward to make up for "lost time". 1. Jonathan was asked in an interview by zizaran if GGG could release at least the ascendancies before/at launch, so people don't need to play for hours just to find out what the ascendancy notables are. Jonathan said he would look into it, so im sure they have some kind of plan here. If the leaks are to be believed, they have already changed some ascendancy trees since the EA content reveal, so they may be cramming in some last minute tweaks before EA launch.
I'm hopeful, at the very least, we will have ascendancies on the web sometime before launch. If we don't, then ohh well, it's probably because they are cramming to loadtest, which is honestly way more important. It's an EA, play and have fun! 2. If respcs are not cheap enough to just play and iterate, GGG screwed up. POE2 is their chance to get a 5x bigger playerbase from the mainstream audience, and a mainstream audience will absolutely quit the game if they brick a character and can't fix it by playing it. They will not throw away investment in a character to reroll. That is something that we've been trained to accept from POE1, but it's not normal in the genre, and if they did it again, then POE2 will remain as relatively niche and geeky as POE1. (i personally want GGG to get fat rich and popular off POE2, it'll make both games better) I personally believe the reason ascendancies are not respeccable, is they decided this was a reasonable tradeoff in exchange for making respeccing really cheap... so respeecing points is more flexible, but ascendancies are less flexible, because GGG believes games with constraints are better games. (because they are) 3. Path of Building developers said it will take them at least a few weeks to put out a PoB release for POE2 EA, if not longer. They won't have access to the client for data-mining until launch, and the damage mechanics are different enough it may take them a while. (or they may release without damage calcs) Last edited by KuroSF#6521 on Dec 4, 2024, 2:00:20 AM

" Which is exactly why they should release the passive tree a couple days before launch. If anything, it's nice to have templates that I configured myself, if simply for the fact that knowing the nodes beforehand allows me to study efficient pathing and lets me create presets for multiple characters beforehand. I don't like spending 2-3 hours in-game to look at passive tree configurations. Gaming PC: Win 11, 7600X3D, RTX 4080, 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30, 7000 MB/s SSD, 850W, 3840x2160p 120Hz
