PoE2: One death in map and its bricked.
" My suspicion is that they will see 6 portals and not understand why they’re there if only one is usable (but that’s speculation) |
|
" From post GGG Life interviews, no you cannot. |
|
" That’s extremely impressive for softcore and something 99% of softcore players cannot say. Now add (assuming you agree with prior statement) that to new players (and 100% of us will be in poe2) with various levels of skill in this genre (within which Poe is unique to say the least) and the inability to retry a couple of times a fight and you have a potential recipe for disaster. |

Anyone reached maps yet and got any feedback on this?

" yup, 1 death = all portals gone. you can insert a new map, which you have to reclear to attempt the boss. extremely punishing assuming you may now know/remember boss mechanics and get 1 shot. |
|
" Problem giving honest feedback on these forums is that if you even remotely think something isn't great, you will have GGG bootlickers come in and try to drown you out and say everything is great, and its the best, and nothing is wrong at all, "git gud" and all sorts of other non-sensical crap. I swear, if GGG shit on a plate and said "this is the best and most worked on piece of shit we have ever created" and served it to these people, they would happily eat the shit off the plate and ask for more. |

Personally the one death bricking portals is greatly reducing my enjoyment of what otherwise is already quite good game even in its current early state.
Having the portals function as normal when you dont die (visiting well and trading), but then simply disappearing on any random death to some ground effects feels extremely unintuitive. But more importantly if I wanted to experience this I would have picked the option to play Hardcore. I'll begrudgingly admit that the 10% exp loss on death in original game was good way of "gently letting you know your build isnt up to the task", but this is just utter misery. The exp (and time) lost should be enough of penalty already as is. I think something like this should rather be an option at character creation for those who enjoy the "challenge" of not occasionally dying to ground effects or over tuned shotgunning projectiles... The option could maybe be called "Ruthless" or something similar? All that being said otherwise I enjoy the game a lot. Removal of alteration and scouring orbs and making exalted orbs more common alone has made the game so much more enjoyable. Last edited by Sirkyrpajyra#6105 on Dec 10, 2024, 11:37:59 AM

" I just reached map yesterday. I thought you would have 6 attempts but it's all gone upon death. This felt extremely punishing as I got oneshotted too easily and it was only a Tier 1 map. If you can't clear a map and get no waystones, it's gonna take so much time going back to the campaign just to farm for waystones to play the game. How it is sustainable if you can't clear a low tier map and get no decent gears to play the content. The way they handled the campaign death and reset was great though, idk why they make endgame so frustrating |

Ok, seems so far all that have reached endgame and have bothered to reply do not like this and find it discouraging as I suspected

Just to add my displeasure to this growing list.
As a solo player, this is extremely punishing. Maybe limit it for specific maps on the Atlas. The 10% XP loss + the map loss is rather a bitter pill to swallow and makes the endgame feel less enjoyable, especially first starting out. |
