This is what i've been saying too. (god forbid you say it on reddit).
It takes two to tango, this is a negotiation failure between GGG and Sony, other F2p games have cross platform Mtx that work flawlessly, it's possible, Sony have and will allow it. Maybe GGG are just bad at negotiating? Maybe Sony don't want to tangle with Tencent who own most of GGG? who knows, but theres more to it than just "Sony's fault".

I'd imagine Sony want some portion of sales that take place outside of their platform in order to release use of "their" assets.

For some games where Sony is the largest platform the game is played on, this makes perfect sense. Even if the player base is a little more evenly spread around, it could make both sides money.

For a game that has single digit % of player base on console, it absolutely makes business sense for GGG to reject an attempt at extending their "partners" reach in such a way that is so one sided financially.

We can call this speculation, mostly because GGG is likely contractually bound from disclosing such details in trying to shift any blame. However, one doesn't have to look long or far for examples of Sony doing the same with other titles.

at least allow us to download the game somehow, before its release. It would be a massacre if we could only download the game when others were already playing it

Can we get an answer if we can pre download early access before the 6th? Will the client be available to download out side of the supporter packs?

Reading people's posts this is the most common question being asked and an answer will alleviate alot of concern.
