Will PoE2 continue affecting PoE1 ?

Considering the base game hasn't had it's 4.0, 5.0, nor 6.0 yet because they were advertising PoE 2 as it's big expansion ...

Considering the base game was their development / testing playground for what they might add into PoE 2 for years ...

Considering the base game had 95% of it's workforce moved over to PoE 2 ...

Considering the base game has next to nothing to show for itself after all these years of "PoE 2 will fix it" ....

Considering they stated that both games would have alternating releases and concurrent development schedules not affecting each other, but we don't get our new league for another 3+ months ....

And considering this downtime was entirely so they could get MTX sales for the people who had to pay for early access to a game that was supposed to have early access years ago....

It's safe to say the base game will continue to abide by the whims of it's successor.

What a load of bull. Engine changes, game changes, story changes, endgame changes, all happened, multiple times. Atlas tree? t17? uber pinnacles, and other dozens of reworks. 3.0 was the oriath expansion, 3.5 was betrayal, 3.9 was conquerors etc.
Please leave out you weird naming schema you thought up yourself to imply there weren't major changes.

And yes MTX are important to a company that gets its money from selling MTX. Who would have thought -.-

I think it will. Again, imagine POE 2 being this Ruthless style game with very little loot, is it really in GGGs interest to also keep making new fun leagues for POE 1 with loot explosions everywhere?

I don't think they wanna do that. The whole point of making POE 2 slower and less of a loot fest was that people would keep playing it for longer. But if they also got another product that looks way more fun and that will get the same amount of support, I could see people just tapping out of 2. That's not good for growth or business

(So if I had to predict something for POE 2, it's that the final release will be way more accessible than people except. They'll keep the low amount of loot and more slow gameplay, but the game and bosses won't be these Elden Ring-style obstacles that they've touted them as so far. I mean they've been pushing it everywhere so far, so having it be this giga-hardcore game that's just going to piss off most gamers trying it doesn't make much sense to me)

It absolutely is in their interest to keep making fun leagues for POE1, they don't really care which game their income comes from or how long people play so long as they are buying MTX. Whether you play 1 only, 2 only or both you're a potential spender and that is what matters for growth and the business.

People that think Poe2 will not affect PoE1 are delusional, end of story.
