Will PoE2 continue affecting PoE1 ?

So with the recent 10+ hour (and failure(?)) of an account migration for the sole sake of PoE2 causing massive downtime for PoE1

as well as the delay of early access delaying 3.26 to at the very minimum early February,

how much do you guys think PoE1 will pretty much be put on maintenance mode/on the shelf in terms of updates/fixes as soon as PoE2 releases (whenever that is, mid 2026?) ?

The early access beta for PoE2 hasn't even launched with so many delays and it's already caused so many issues and problems for PoE1 (despite GGG stating as a fact that PoE2 wouldn't affect PoE1).

Considering the base game hasn't had it's 4.0, 5.0, nor 6.0 yet because they were advertising PoE 2 as it's big expansion ...

Considering the base game was their development / testing playground for what they might add into PoE 2 for years ...

Considering the base game had 95% of it's workforce moved over to PoE 2 ...

Considering the base game has next to nothing to show for itself after all these years of "PoE 2 will fix it" ....

Considering they stated that both games would have alternating releases and concurrent development schedules not affecting each other, but we don't get our new league for another 3+ months ....

And considering this downtime was entirely so they could get MTX sales for the people who had to pay for early access to a game that was supposed to have early access years ago....

It's safe to say the base game will continue to abide by the whims of it's successor.
To be fair, might we hope that some of the "improvements" in PoE Too will trickle back to PoE? I saw a video about skill tree QoL improvements which ought to be on the PoE skill tree, as well. If we see those come over, we can be more confident that PoE will be well-maintained. If not, well, the writing on the wall will be clear to read. ='[.]'=

ya they shouldn't have ever said that. We're in a 6 month league now because of it and still can't play the game on PS5 today.

I'm looking forward to POE2 but I haven't spend $500 (I've spent some money though) so I don't even know when I'll be able to play it and I'm not dropping $500 either.

I think the question you are posing is. Will poe 1 and poe 2 have separate teams. All I know is I 100% trust in GGG to take care of its fanbase. That's what they're known for. Let's give credit where it's due and applaud them for providing us with one of the best if not best free arpg's on the globe. I personally am patient and will not be upset if they take as much time as they need to provide a solid product for us, free of charge.
These people do something no other company would do. In a new game they release, you will have all mtx from the previous game. These guys work for you. This is something bigger companies would never do. GGG is a company that deserves appreciation.
Of course, the fact that the league lasted 6 months is a situation that deserves criticism. They have no opponent, i hope this does not affect them badly.
The only company that keeps the damn D2 soul alive and provides us a real ARPG experience. No matter what, let's not ignore what they have been trying for us at some point. And shouldn't left criticism.

I hope things are going well. Have fun everyone.
of course it will keep affecting it. we could very well only get 2 new leagues again next year, depending on how things go with poe2 full release.. even after poe 2 full release that game will get all the dev time/attention just like its getting now.

Obviously... No company has infinite money to hire an infinite amount of devs so taking on a project that divides up the resources will have an effect.
It's almost as if some of us have been saying this the whole time, and yet each time we did, people would get mad over it. 🤷‍♂️

If PoE 2 has no CWDT builds, I will quit for good.

Huh? POE just got a huge feature that people having been asking incessantly to have for 10 years. Maybe it was just a tester for POE2 but to say that POE1 isn't getting anything big is absurd.
