PoE2 early access predictions.

Not everyone is enjoying when everything is easy and the most hard part of the game is crafting mirrored-tier gear

Also the game is not being created FOR i-want-it-easy player
Chris stated in the past that he wanted to make a hard game (he played HC-diablo and wanted to make something like that iirc)

If the game will be hard and doing some "content" will be like - only 5% of players finished this super labyrinth.. then im hyped as i could be

I like when there's a sense of achievement, so does Chris

Well then the game will have way less players. There's a reason barely anyone plays ruthless in poe 1, the main audience of this game isn't interested in insanely punishing hard gameplay. That's just a niche. After the initial hype dies down the steam numbers will show us how many people really enjoy poe 2 anyway.

It's fine if we'll have 200k people instead of 600k people, they'll get milked in PoE1 so everyone's happy

But why insanely punishing? Take a golden middle.
Another prediction and what's concerning is the appearance/look of the https://pathofexile2.com/ website. With three weeks before the early access launch beside the more mobile friendly appearance, there's no place for open discussion, no forums, and adverting about any ladder/ranking or other "events" link like here.

The "community" link leads to nowhere and at least it's there, but still by now those who may be undecided should have a place and opportunity to discuss or ask questions related to the game. Overall, how close the reveal is to the launch it's unlikely there will be more than what most already known for a while.

I'd assume it goes up after either the stream or at launch.
What discussion would there even be about game balance etc when most players haven't touched it.

Especially no point for ladders at this point.

I am less worried with predictions and more with information. The page says PS2 for Steam xbox and PS, but says nothing about a stand alone client. My account is not in steam...

Standalone and Steam are nearly identical from a technical point of view. Why wouldn't they have one?

for some reason that came from the marketing department and not the engineering department ( 25 years in development industry made me aware those exist and are not rare).

I wouldn't be too worried about it. Steam is good for marketing, considering the majority plays PoE 1 through Steam, but GGG still benefits from having a standalone either way.

oh do they now? thats funny. in past leagues when people would link steam charts to show how bad the retention is the argument was always " but not many people play on steam"

Chris Wilson said so himself in an interview a couple years ago, then the split was 60% Steam / 40% Standalone. I'm inclined to believe him, I think his word has some weight to it. :)

Though who knows, maybe it is 70/30 now, or down to 50/50. Regardless, Steam users make up a significant portion of the playerbase.

That was most likely because some people misinterpret the graph, don't know what retention means in correlation to older leagues or they pull numbers from the always popular "source: trust me bro" to compare steam charts with.
My prediction is the initial release will be janky as fuck but have some appeal to a subset of PoE crowd but not all PoE crowd.
