Coincidence?

You use pretty strong language assuming this is an obvious solution, but if you look at that discussion, there are concerns being raised...

(Maybe it was and still is the best solution available to GGG, but it doesn't mean no downsides.)

nothing can be proven one way or another so people can just make up their own minds about it based on their own experience and what they see from others. is it coincidence that someone who leaves a lot of negative feedback never gets any good drops while some other player who praises GGG with his every breath gets 2 mirror drops 2 leagues in a row? who knows...
Lmao. Don't be ridiculous. Here's a pro-tip: playing the game gets you currency and mirrors, not stirring up wild controversies on the forums.

I too have concerns about many things. But you have to differentiate between reality and make-belief stories from disgruntled people who have a bad streak.

I have taken so many Ls RNG-wise this league but if you scroll up you can see one goober raise the accusation my RNG got boosted by GGG somehow because he perceives me as a "forum white knight" which in and of itself is toxic as heck.

People like that are also in the venn diagram of people 'voicing concerns' in that thread, so I'm inclined to give little weight to what they say
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
Rather questionable to talk about it that openly although who am i to judge. The matter probably had pros and cons back then...From that old thread it sounds to me like these flagged accounts drop no currency items at all or just scrolls. So, as long as you go out of a map with a couple of chaos it's probably just withdrawal symptoms from Affliction league that you are experiencing...Take this post with a grain of salt ;P

High level of fomo and jealousy for the most part.
You can often see how the same players indirectly admit their unoptimized gameplay in various ways but at the same time they do expect to get the same returns in outcome like all the players with more knowledge and a overall more optimized gameplay.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.
FOMO ? Sure , whatever. Its not like GGG has ever been caught doing something nobody thought they would do.....
We've seen it plenty of times especially with posts about Apothecary cards and tin foil hats or recently raw divine drops. It's usually quite telling when someone only plays for raw divine drops and can't progress otherwise.

Just like Pashid said, it's FOMO combined with lack of knowledge.

If you look a few posts above here, I was also the one dismissing these people for the same reason.

But why are you lumping Barry in them ? (Especially when most of this still seemed to be in the future ?)

Lol, yeah.
Who's Barry?
