removed jewel with 1 lightning point and it was not refunded

I removed a jewel with 1 lightning point. The point was not refunded when I swapped out the jewel to look at another one.

Surely this is a bug and not as intended?

These points are limited and surely loosing one nerfs the toon?

After the 10 acts this is way too harsch particularly as it doesnt even give a warning dialogue before you do it.

Surely this is a bug?

Removing a jewel costs no refund points and you can still socket a jewel back in. Removing the jewel socket costs 1 refund point (from quests or regret orbs) and gives you the point back if you want to spend it elsewhere. You still have the jewel socket available at the top of your tree with nothing in it and can still be refunded if you want the points back.

I'd look more into a build guide than worrying about 1 potentially missed passive point. You've got a lot of passives that aren't doing anything or using attack supports with spells.
Hey, many thanks for the reply.

This is my first toon so I pretty new. I’ll keep reading build guides to refine and learn. I figured it wasn’t very good but I keep reading. I just couldn’t find this answer anywhere, which is perplexing.

So to be clear if I put a point in the lightning jewel expansion sockets (not just the jewel socket and then remove the jewel the passive point is gone forever or I can just re-earn it?

Thanks for the advice

You can never lose passive points (except for Bandit re-spec from kill all, but not relevant here). Once you earned a passive and spend it, you can use the refund points to remove it and spend it elsewhere. But you never have to re-earn the passives by doing the quests again.

I don't understand what you mean by "lightning jewel expansion socket". You have an empty jewel socket at the top of your tree, and I'm assuming you had some kind of lightning jewel inside of it and then removed the jewel. But the socket is still there and didn't go anywhere. You can either put in another jewel into the socket at no passive point cost. Or you can use the refund points to get the points back to spend them anywhere else on the tree and lose the jewel socket in the process. But you still have the same total number of passive points either way.
Many thanks for the reply

Attached is an image showing the point in the jewel which i had placed https://gyazo.com/c20f68480fdc1ced371a03dad68794be

When you remove a cluster jewel, all its selected passives are reset and all spent points are returned to you as free points. You don't lose anything.

ok cool so that didnt happen to me. when i removed it i didnt get any passive back
You still have to use a respec point on the jewel socket. When you unsocket a jewel you are free to put another jewel into that socket. If you want the passive point back you have to refund the jewel socket.

this was not about the jewel socket. its about the passive point that was in the the group as per the photo. I am still missing that passive point. Is this not a bug?
In that case there is a 99.99999% chance the passive was spent elsewhere unknowingly or you changed bandit rewards or something.

I would be shocked if the game actually ate a passive point.
