Why is Annihilation's Approach killing me when I have 1.1k net regen in PoB?
My RF Chieftain has 90% fire res and according to PoB over 1.1k life regeneration with RF active so I figured I could switch to Annihilation's Approach. In the PoB I still have over 800 net regen when I put them on but when I activate flame-touched my health starts to drop rapidly! In Pohx' PoB he has even less net regen when he switches so I'm not quite sure what I am doing wrong?

Some of your life regen in conditional, from enduring cry. If you take that off it should still be positive, but comes down to about +300.
Are you testing this in your hideout? That POB is current? Double check purity of fire is on and not some other aura, character sheet in game is saying 90(180) for fire res? Last edited by Belegur85#5784 on Sep 4, 2024, 11:06:13 PM

Good catch! Both enduring cry and immortal cry add quite a bit to the life regen but if I disable them the PoB still gives me 170 net regen. I found that I don't lose life if I either add a jewel with 17 life per sec or switch the Pantheon to Arakali.
- life loss happens outside as well - PoB is current - Purity of fire is on and fire res is properly overcapped |

OK, mystery solved! I thought my PoB was updated but it wasn't (somehow the update available thing did not come up automatically, I had to check for updates). Sand stance was applied incorrectly to DoTs in the last version and has been fixed now and PoB reports -20 life regen which checks out...

Yep, immortal call is the other one, that puts you slight negative. There's a fair few options if you want to increase it, Arakali is pretty good if you don't need any of the other ones, but it should function at that level as well. You've got shock avoid so the degen should be fairly stable. I haven't used these boots before, you probably do need to focus life regen a bit more than you would normally.

I fixed the immediate problem for now with a little bit extra life regen but now the question is how much do I realistically need? I currently only have +50. If I take Arakali I get 150 but then I miss out on the stun immunity from Brine or all the defense from Lunaris...

I like to have a lot, but realistically you probably don't need much in softcore. I don't have the POB up any more, but I think I noticed you had percent life on kill somewhere. So for mapping you might be fine. Just watch out for shocked ground, maybe have a bleed flask if you weren't already using one before. Poison might also be more dangerous than it was when u had +1000. Your probably not getting stunned much, you would of noticed before if you were. Just got to weigh up which is more useful for you currently. You'll have those conditional buffs up a fair bit as well. If it's not working there are a lot of other options for regen. Like you said the build guide you are using didn't seem to have much net regen.

I have life on kill, life on block, Ralakesh to help with bleed, poison immunity on my life flask and I'm shock, freeze and ignite immune. Between that and the life regen from the warcries it is definitely doable but it does feel more squishy then before. I'll look how to add some more regen but at this point everything comes at opportunity costs...

Yeah it's all relative. How good are the boots going for your damage? I've usually used Maven boots in the past, but I guess these are meta now since you can't get the adrenaline elsewhere.

The speed and damage boost from those boots does feel really good, especially since RF has otherwise limited options to scale the damage. T16s are most of the time no problem at all but there are these moments when you feel the new squishiness. I'll try T17 tomorrow. I bet that will be a lot rougher. Maybe it's worth checking out the cast on stun version!
