Build Recommendations - Beginner Player Looking To Take The Next Step
Hello All,
I'm looking to try a new build to help me better understand the more advanced concepts of damage scaling as well as something that has more of an active playstyle. I've tried to get into POE since the beta but this is my first time getting beyond the campaign and I have reached T16 maps and have 2 voidstones. I've just been following Pohx's videos and website to gear my character. I would really like to kill all of the bosses on all difficulties...sorry I don't know enough to be specific. I know I want to complete the feared and I guess uber level if that is the highest. Currently I am just doing T16 harvest to make chaos orbs which has funded the gear on my character. I also found a rune dagger with 22% DoT Multi fracture that I was going to try and craft, but I think I will sell it to fund the next build rather than keep playing RF. If the build has cool/purple spell effects that's a plus. I'd be willing to buy something off the store to convert if available. Last bumped on Sep 9, 2024, 9:20:00 PM

I would concentrate on doing the feared. It's a good challenge, the ubers are a bit of a step up in difficulty, but once you have done feared you can look at tackling the ubers. The fight itself is not as good as some of the other boss fights because the mechanics are not really designed to go together, but it's still pretty good, and there is strategy involved. You will want to know the bosses decently well, which you can practice while farming them out.
I don't have a build suggestion. If you're wanting to do every uber or just a few, that will probably determine if you need a build that can handle them all or can build something that is specifically good at a certain selection. Health pool regen is probably important in combination with single target damage (although AOE is useful on feared). Unless you have a very large amount of damage the fights will go for a while, and a lot of the fights have mechanics that disrupt your regeneration, relying just on flasks will be difficult. Thank you and I would be looking for at least 1 kill on all available boss content just to say I've done it. I've seen some gameplay of T17 map content and TBH I am more interested in boss killing and getting good at Sanctum (haven't tried this yet but it looks interesting!).

Sanctum requires very specific builds. It may be that you want a separate build for that. I played penance brand last league and it was very good for sanctum. My current build has done some ubers, but wasn't doing great at sancum last time I ran one. It's possible to get builds that are good at all, but the more things the build needs to cover, the more likely it is to become less effective at certain areas. You could look at some of the current meta builds. I'm not sure how any of them are going or how good they are at ubers specifically, but there might be a good amount of information on them at least, a bit like learning with the RF build.
It sounds to me from your description that you want to play something like hexblast mines. I haven't played it, so I don't know if it's any good or easy enough for a relatively new player to play/gear, or do ubers. Just know that it seems to be meta currently and seems to be a bit like what you are talking about. Could be that it is meta because it is a good league starter, and at this stage of the league you need something more tailored to beating ubers. I don't know enough about it. Just sounds like you want to play something with spells and not melee. The t17 bosses are decent as well. If you haven't done them they are a good challenge and don't require you to be farming the maps fully, so long as you can get to the arena. It will help with farming the uber fragments as well, some of the more expensive ones cost around 1 divine currently, which can add up quickly if you are doing multiple attempts on the ubers. I really appreciate your responses, thank you!

Yeah I see your Kiwi supporter icon, that's pretty cool.
Should probably try and get the other voidstones as well. Assuming you have got the eldritch bosses and are upto maven/ uberelder. Should be both doable on you current build. Just watch out for the lasers in the mavern fight, they will disable healing temporarily which is rough for RF. |

To me RF from Pohx was that kinda thing so i will recommend trying it out.

Hi. I have been playing this game for a while now. Not even sure when first I started. Left for some years and returned few leagues ago. I had few friends on list but non very helpful. Even tried joining guilds. But all playing just for themselves. Not much chatting or helping fairly noob player. I understand there are build creators and youtubers. As far I can tell most just in it for the views and subs. Making money with all sorts of crappy content. Baiting so many people.
I made 1 lvl 100 character in all the time i spent playing. Without much help. I had lucky drop and bought myself 5ways to lvl100. If there are any players in game that are willing to help and teach. Please dm me. |

I wanted to provide an update:
Managed to unlock 4 void stones and have been completing the maven invitations that I can unlock from doing the guardian maps. I completed one T17 boss fight(Catarina, haven't tried any others). As I'm learning more about scaling I'm concerned that I will not be able to scale my damage without expensive investment if I stick to my current build. I like playing RF/Firetrap chieftain and I've really enjoyed building the character up but I don't have a lot of time to invest in expensive jewels. I saw that the lvl85 Ubers have a 70% damage reduction and am worried I won't have the damage to reasonably take them on. I'm working on crafting a +2 neck to replace defiance of destiny and I found a shaper shield with %health on block and 3% max fire res which would save me two passive points if I could figure out how to run my auras without the 30% eff suffix on my current shield. I see people using enlighten but they all have multiple unique jewels so not sure if that is enabling that or not. I thought about doing a marauder slam build, earthshatter berserker or jugg. I could fund this character with my RF characters mapping ability. I really enjoy the boss fights and have been enjoying the invitation fights as well. I'm also looking for a balanced experience on the uber fights so not looking to scale a build to obscene levels of damage...but I think a different build would allow me more damage for less investment I guess? Any opinions welcome and feel free to pick apart my RF character. Thanks! Last edited by Orbx#4924 on Sep 9, 2024, 10:59:14 AM

Nice one. The ubers are a bit of a step up. You might be able to do some of them. I would say Sirus would be hardest for RF, it's just one of the harder ones in general. Also Maven and Exarch would be a bit tricky, because all these 3 have mechanics that turn off your healing. The other ones might be a good place to start. Your RF build looks fine to me, there are things that can be improved like 6 socket helmet, but it starts to get harder to min max. Probably anything you do is going to be fairly small gains. Sounds like you know what you are doing, I don't think you need much advice on that.
You probably can get a more specific damage build for ubers than RF, but it might take some effort as well. My slam chieftain is struggling whith a couple of the ubers, but it's mainly because i'm not that good at the fights. Mainly the ones I listed. The other ones were fairly easy. Sirus third phase gets hard without damage because the Degen covering the arena. I'm not far off doing them but it's also a waste of currency failing them. Playing a new character instead at the moment. Last edited by Belegur85#5784 on Sep 9, 2024, 11:28:56 AM
