Farming for what?
" Finding a mirror during campaign is lucky. Grinding out juiced T16 or T17 maps for weeks isn't. Calling something lucky takes away from the achievement of applying a method as a means of acquiring one. Even if the mirror didn't drop and was acquired through continuous grind of building a stack of divines big enough to afford one, it isn't lucky. People are so laser focused on the end of the journey they forget about the way there and it's sad. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

There is a lot of complain about in this game, but grinding isn't one of them. It is an ARPG, grinding is literally in the name of the company that owns this game. While I agree this game is not casual friendly in any way shape or form, complaining about the grind is a bit silly.

I just love the arcady feel of rushing through the map, blowing up hordes of monsters and picking up shiny stuff. It's very zen to me. I don't care about getting rich, but when some currency accumulates I'll try to improve my character to blow up stuff faster and die less. It's OK to not like PoE or get bored of it, but there are obviously a fair share of people who like grindy games like this.

Different people play for different reasons. But one thing many people, for whatever reason, forget is that you don't have to play 1 game forever. I've been playing for over a decade, but with measure. This ensures no burnout, and enjoyment when you play. This is why people get bored an complain.
This league is about over for me. Reached level 94, that's 4 levels over my goal. Got 2 void stones; plenty for what I want. Blasted through Tier 16 maps for that dopamine rush. Tried Tier 17, failed, and discovered it's not my cup of tea. Now I might do a map or two eventually for that itch, and then take a break and focus on other games or activities. The game mustn't be a grind, unless you make it. Last edited by lupasvasile on Aug 19, 2024, 6:30:34 PM

" you definitely dont have several tens of thousand hours in just 6 years of playing the streamers like zizaran who play every league for like 500+ hours have only like 25k hours and they been playing since 2012 so you are obviously lying Last edited by Gopstop22 on Aug 20, 2024, 4:21:59 AM

" Calling upon this much experience is what's called appeal to authority fallacy where he tries to justify his position by lying about his experience plaiyng. It's transparent af. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

The game is a bit too short. It lacks an endgame. The question in the title is correct one.
Game must answer to question “Why farm?” now the only arpg that have right endgame is (don’t open the spoiler unless you have solid mind)
Spoiler
Diablo Immortal - poor realization, but the endgame concept is great
PoE ends when I have a character that can speed farm T17. I’m already speed farming it, can do almost every mod. 8k+ ES, but I can run with -def mod with 4k ES. I can clear Abomination (besides bosses) with 800 ES only. Now what? The game must introduce new bosses and new map tiers, up to T20. Or have a factions pvp. | |
" Yeah yeah, i didn't do the math before writing that. Sue me if you need to. Doesn't change that you won't be dropping a mirror every league in SSF with effort alone, you'll still need luck. The fact that you seriosly compare farming up divines to buy a mirror in trade with dropping one in SSF just shows how disingenious you are. Do you have any actual arguments on the matter aside from nitpicking? No? Thought so. Then i'll consider this case settled. Last edited by Baharoth15 on Aug 20, 2024, 5:28:13 AM

" Cheap attempt to back out of an arugment you lost by declaring yourself the winner. Again: transparent. You started this whole sideshow because I linked a mirror to a guy who said grinding must be rewarding. Therefore we can deduct that you think rewards like Mirrors are not worth grinding for, but the possibility of dropping a mirror is always present. Whether you think it is just pure luck or not doesn't matter for this to be true. Same for every other T0 unique drop, Divines etc. The actual topic is what do you grind for, and if OP doesn't know that after playing for that many hours, I circle back to my first reply to the topic which was: " Because sometimes that is the correct move if you don't enjoy the game you are playing. The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
