The fight just isn't fun. At all. The dude is a giant bullet sponge beyond any of the map bosses I have been facing as of yet. Add in the stupid "Oh look he goes invulnerable" mechanic and it is just tedious. Yes, I'm a filthy casual and I don't spend 12+ hours on the game min/maxing my build. I play builds I haven't played before and don't give 2 shits about meta. I assume I'm not the only one but I do enjoy seeing the snide comments here about how the issue is definitely the players' fault and has asbsolutely nothing to do with the encounter mechanic aspect being dumb and boring.

Spending 10+ minutes to kill the boss and just jogging back and forth dodging crap is really not something I want to do.

These encounters are scripted on some level and isn't pure RNG, that much is proven by how often the encounters occur until you either pay them off or beat the captain. I had it happen 4 times in a row on zero risk shipments. I kept abandoning it as the encounter is very boring and I really don't like the fight and don't want to do it. But until you either pay or fight, it'll just keep happening it seems.

This fight isn't fun, the boss is waaaaay too tanky, the mechanics of the fight just get very boring. Maybe its fun for masochists? That isn't me and I don't like the Elden Ring games so maybe it just reminds me of things I find very boring in games.

Seems like the boss should scale with the town or something as opposed to just being spongier than all of the mapping bosses from the get-go.

Most of us are playing our own builds and don't give a shit about meta. In fact I'm the only player on poe.ninja currently playing the build I'm using, but I'm killing this pirate in 30 seconds. It was the same when I was playing with my elementalist and my ascendant, yet I took down ubers on them

You have to accept that this pirate is the easiest endgame boss that's in the game and doesn't deal any damage unless you're actively trying to get killed. I can understand that people who are struggling in red maps are finding it hard, because it has a good amount of life and can cause trouble for undergeared characters, but that's it. Just get more dps, have some recovery, and the fight takes like a minute where your life bar doesn't even move

Have you ever fought Uber Sirus or high depth Aul? Those are the real fights for masochists

Can we swap? I'd finally be able to upgrade my town
Nothing wrong with ass pirates.
Yeah, snide remarks aside, most people want the pirate to spawn so they can kill him for the gold and runes.

I got both conditional challenges in my first and only attempt so far. Everything is very well telegraphed and since it's a one and done the damage they deal is quite low.

Yes the boss is tanky if your dps is on the lower end ( like mine ) but it is still worth doing. The time it takes for the gold you get is well worth it and the best rune can single handedly pay for a nice upgrade on your league starter.

fyi, it sais so in the tooltip. Risk has no effect on the boss spawning. That only effects chances of bad stuff without a boss.

Also don't know if you have actually killed him? It might be similar to the eldritch bosses where you get a lot of chances until you beat them for the first time. So the game is spawning him more often because you haven't killed him yet. Chances are he will spawn far less as soon as you beat him once.

The bosses in this game get far, far worse by the way. I play off meta builds, all home brewed, mostly one of one builds, preferrably using new skills and I have beaten everything in the game with those. Some work better than others but it is doable. Meta trivializes the game, off meta still works but will be much harder.

So, you need to pick your poison because it sounds like you want easy mode but choose to play on hard mode. Either play Meta and have a nice easy(ier) time or play off meta and have more deaths and longer boss fights. This isn't the type of game where you can slap any build together and have it easy. There are other arpg's that will give you that. POE is the Elden ring of the arpg genre. If you don't like Elden Ring chances are you won't enjoy POE.

Better to cut your losses. Not saying any of this to be snide or rude but if you aren't having fun because this boss fight takes too long you won't enjoy what is waiting for you further down the road. You are complaining that POE is, well, too POE, hence the snide remarks.
