I heard melee changes?
I heard this!
* All melee skills has an a4dded 0.2 range * All One/Two handed damage is now based on item level instead of flat phys. * One/Two handed phys modifier removed. Replaced with bleed damage. * Bleed damage on weapon increased 50%. * Weapon do no longer do bleed, instead do "100% Cold/Fire/Chaos" damage. Last bumped on Jul 11, 2024, 9:12:03 PM

I don't know if I completely understand this post. but it sounds like. how to kill melee 101.

melee range being small is fine as long as the game is built around that consideration.
i really hate the feeling of being "forced" to make my melee hits cleave a huge portion of the screen that i might as well use a 24 foot pole as a weapon. weapon damage based on item level actually can be interesting. poe1 spells scale with level. weapon damage increasing due to item level makes the gap between melee and spells reduced. phys modifier replaced by bleed? wtf L bleed damage on weapon increased, to me this should be an inherent bonus to melee weapons. melee weapons should have an easier time applying ailments and/or have increased ailment effectiveness. weapon no longer deal bleed but instead increased damage of a specific element, not too sure how i feel about that. i need to know the context. " why " What does melee have to do with bleed? Also, removing flat phy would eliminate diversity of both melee and phy builds. " There's already some unique weapons that has increased % bleed damage as well as modifiers that increase % bleed damage. " No bleed nor phy but elemental/chaos. Like fire boneshatter? The beauty of phy is that it uses phy, not elemental. There are already builds that do 100% phy to elemental conversion. I don't understand the need to remove diversity from the game and kill melee. And as a side note, the problem is not melee, it is how the game is structured, where being melee is inferior relative to range Venezuela es mi barrio, y odio mi barrio.

3.25 Patch notes
Melee changes: Due to repeated complaints about melee totems being clunky to use for melee builds we have removed the buff effects from them. That way melee builds get more dps uptime! To make melee attacks feel more impactful, we reduced the base attack speed of all melee gems by 50% so that each attack matters. We have also reduced the AOE of AOE based melee skills as well as the base strike range of strike skills to improve the "melee" feeling of those skills. To compensate for those buffs we also rebalanced the damage values of most melee gems and gave some of the most commonly used melee weapons a rework. For example Voidforge now has 200% phys as extra ele and 1 - 20% increased attack speed. This is a buff. |
|
" No lie this is exactly what i expect. Or to add, removed the modifier strike skills strike additional and melee splash. |
|
Those are some nice proposed changes. How exactly will they help me from getting deleted from offscreen in 0.1 seconds because I don't have a mandatory spell suppression cap and expert level clairvoyance?
| |
" by playing an off screen killing proj build |
|
" By not playing a glass cannon that dies to the first best enemy fart cloud. if you die to those evil "offscreen" hits you're doing something wrong. Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

True Melee (Strike Skills w/o Pewpew spewing out of weapon range) is not great at the moment. (eg: Dual Strike, Heavy Strike, Double Strike, Vigiliant Strike, etc.). Flicker Strike seems to have a good mechanics but you need to invest a good pair glasses after playing for whole league (RIP for Epileptics) also Boneshatter w/ Jugg/Slayer Ascendancy is tolerable to a point where everything oneshots you before you reach and hit something.
Yes, you can invest 5-10 mirror worth of investment for melee to become 1shot wonder, immortal tank. But by the time you reach it its the end of the league. (While other builds area already playing gamba and rng mirror crafts b/c their account is filthy rich). Some peeps who says that melee is strong, yada yada. That's the peeps who did not play melee as league start all the way to uber uber bosses. Anyways, POE2 seems to have similar problem dealing with melees. Potentially, devs are so inspired in-real life where they compare guns with knives. |
