As far as I know, luring monsters into a ritual circle will not add them to a ritual encounter; they must have already been tied to that ritual when the map was opened.

Edit: I just ran a map with a ritual (funny, the ritual was "Haunted"), lured the boss into the ritual circle, and the boss was added to the encounter. It seems like the boss behaves differently than the other monsters, or it was changed.

If it is how you say and "Haunted Ritual" is required, WHY does the challenge then NOT say so?

The boss must have a ritual circle on him. The boss must be killed in the circle so that he respawns in the ritual. Then start the ritual, now the respawned boss must be possessed and killed for the challenge. It does not have to be a Haunted Ritual, but with random Tormented spirits it is very difficult to do.
