Fair warning to GGG about egotistical feedback calling developers egotistical.

There's often confusion that occurs when discussing this game. Particularly because it's effectively two different games. The base main game campaign is not the same thing as Atlas maps. Like GTA is not the same thing as Mario Kart just because they both have cars. So when addressing Path of Exile, you can often get one talking about apples and the other about oranges. And intermingling everything as if referring to the same thing

I don't think of it this way. I think Mario Kart and GTA are different because of the features being different. Even the driving and cars are mutually exclusive experiences.

You say that the Atlas game isn't the same game as the campaign which is true but who plays the campaign without touching maps? I'm sure some do this. Is it a lot though?

The point I was making is that some small group prefers to just run maps. They don't want the whole experience. When people want standard without the current thing that's what standard is there for. Their problem is easier to solve.

If we wanted a map only experience I would create a custom league people could join for that. I wouldn't consider it part of the classic experience. It would have its own leaderboards and reward structure. If people wanted that they could go do that then.

This is more about how you dice these problems up and address them in a holistic way for the betterment of the product.

The reason why mmos and online rpgs have gone into decline isn't because there isn't huge interest in the millions and millions. The reason is that they all get undermined to the point all those interested users refuse to play. And all the damage is the result of listening to and trying to please power levelers. Of course, those who are not interested in playing the game (power levelers who are interested in powering/rushing through content) are still very important. So their feedback on how they feel about replayability is crucial. But the whole warning is to assess their intent in regards to how it affects the main game. Because many of them have actual harmful intent towards the main game. And are definitely not there to offer feedback to improve the quality.

This was documented many years ago. It's called MUDWhimping.

http://www.memorableplaces.com/mudwimping.html

Essentially new people take over the MUD and think their way is the right way. So they make detrimental changes to the formula and destroy the community that preceded them.

I don’t expect professional developers who have been doing the job for years need to be “warned” that some feedback is bad. They’ve been on the internet too.

Egotistical feedback with intent to destroy/undermine the game calling devs 'egotistical' = contradiction.

All feedback is important. And yes it's very much important to not ignore feedback from users who are actively playing the game. And how they feel. Just treat it with a mountain sized grain of salt. That aside, there is much importance to consideration for those who would like to play the game, find the design of the game to be amazing, but are not playing the game. Because of years of getting undermined as a game.

feedback is possible here?????????? where when???
If it doesn't involve licking a body part, the post will be deleted almost immediately!
I WILL NOT LIE! And they're probably not even embarrassed!

The lowest point has long since been reached!
The standard for PoE is softcore trade.

Acquiring gear is a one-step process where you get your gear from trade. There is no gear progression. (ofcourse after you've made your first currency-maker char).
