What Are You Not Looking Forward To In Path of Exile 2?
As Path of Exile 2's closed beta approaches, we're learning more and more about the game.
As someone who is quite enthusiastic about it, I decided to sit down and outline what I'm fearful about. It's all in this video: https://youtu.be/G6oMNKnWpoM Succinctly: 1. Community Split 2. Difficulty 3. Build Diversity 4. Performance/Game Optimization 5. Wells What are you currently fearful about? Do you think it's a valid fear, or something that will be addressed before the official release? Last bumped on Jan 30, 2024, 7:37:50 PM

1. Community Split: I am not sure this is a big issue. Some of the folks you know might stick with one over the other, but overall I expect a great influx of new players. I don't think either version will have too few players
2. Difficulty: any increase to the game difficulty is welcome to me! 3. Build Diversity: I am not sure we know enough about PoE2 yet to determine how diverse builds will be. In a way it will be more restrictive, but if each playstyle has enough depth I believe that we'll be quite busy figuring out the best builds and how to optimize them 4. Performance: I hope further optimization is underway. While personally I have no issues running PoE, many players experience crashes and degradation of performance. This needs to be addressed 5. Wells: looking forward to the beta. They said they are open to only make Wells a thing during the campaign, so we shall see My main concern is gonna be the separation of the two games. I thoroughly enjoy PoE1 and would hate to miss out on the continuous development of new seasons for it (alongside challenges & MTX which, since it will be shared between the two games, I would miss out on if I only played one) The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

Another game built around the assumption that dealing with other people in my single-player experience is fun and desirable.

1. Entire game
Im fine with current PoE, thanks. | |
1) The speed. If I didn't value fast gameplay, I wouldn't be here playing PoE 1.
2) Freedom of skill choice. Hear me out here: In PoE 1, many people have voiced concerns about the melee totem buffs. NO ONE wants to go around placing 2 totems down just to get those buffs, but most people do it because of the power it yields. The combo skill system in PoE 2 is constantly 'forcing' you to perform certain actions because "it's the right/most power thing to do at the time". Feeling forced into actions you don't necessarily want to do feels like crap. Sure, they might make it feel great, but I doubt it. That's the two most concerning aspects of PoE 2 for me. Call me a simple dude, but I like one-button builds while clearing. Call me old fashioned, but I don't like my ARPGs to be overly tactical, and I feel that your gear and build choices should let you handle most dangers, especially outside of boss fights, without forcing you into a playstyle of combos you may not want to be doing, but feeling forced to because of numbers. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

I'm only still playing this game because Poe 2 is coming
I'm very bored with poe 1 After watching exilecon and also several other films and interviews about POE 2, I only hope that the game will not be completely similar to the first one, I'm afraid of that, and what they said tends to suggest that it will be more focused on the player's skill, which gives me hope. I would like to test and evaluate it as soon as possible |

If the game requires you to press a million different buttons like an MMO I'm not going to play it more than uber casually. I don't want to be forced to dodge roll constantly either.

I'm afraid that PoE 2 will inevitably drift towards zoomy PoE1 playstayle along the years because of many leagues of powercreep coupled with PoB hyper-optimization.
The best state of combat would then be right at launch and it would all be downhill from there. I just hope we can avoid this scenario. EDIT: Another fear: Crafting becoming as convoluted as PoE1 over time. I was fine with crafting bench not being a thing in PoE2, because it made loot matter more.
