optimisation joke
I have been playing since Delve, but what is happening is one big joke. It's been getting worse and worse for the last two-three leagues. Optimisation is nil, one big slideshow. Servers are disastrous, on Europe at unusual hours Paris is still functioning, London/Milan/Frankfurt is a joke. At the start of the game I passed the first act after the first 5 hours. On a 3-4 year old laptop it is impossible to play at all...Chris said in an interview that the last leagues were done by 5 people...Will anyone at GGG do something about the technical state, which is now terrible?

Mate I understand you about the performance issues but let me ask you this :
- how many GB of ram do you have - do you think the server problems are because of GGG or DDOS attacks (that happened in past leagues also) that also explain why only a few of the EU servers have issues - do you have an SSD (any kind really since I myself use a SATA SSD instead of the new ones and still I have max 10 sec loading screens even to towns 700/700 read/write) - do you realize that any game in this world get's harder to run with time due to amount of content in the game that needs to be loaded / preloaded increasing the min specs to run the game each year by a small bit ? - indeed there was a idiotic update that made performance worse last league but all in all if you play on dx12 or vk you can play the game with little to no stress (I made a post a about the performance myself regarding random stutters and shader bar going crazy randomly and I solved this by reinstalling the game / deleting the shaders and moving from dx11 to dx 12 because vk doesn't work for me idk if my 1060 works well with that). - have you tried lowering the settings of the game ? I play on around 100-120 fps on low 1080p with 16 GB 3600 mhz ram / I5 12400 / 1060 / SATA ssd 700/700 Last edited by OoReSpEcToO on Dec 21, 2023, 2:30:50 AM

Stop responding about asking for PC specs. I know some peeps have good intention to try and help others, but its hardly a factor mostly now days. Especially when someone mentions it was fine before using the same computer. Which many players are in this game !!! and i can relate
I've got an i9, 32gb low latency ram, SSD 7900/6500 R/W and RTX 4090 I can drop to 25 fps myself for long periods Legion/delirium. 45-65fps at times with a few things going normal maps on and can average around 90/110fps in maps on average. My i7 on gtx 1080 back in previous leagues was always constant above 120fps no matter the content. I myself believe it is getting worse and more drastic for some players than others. And its not the peoples systems entire. Which part of my rig does anyone want to tell me needs an upgrade ? Maybe rusted cabling need replacement ? Last edited by R3cKiTT on Dec 21, 2023, 5:11:23 AM

It was good before 3.21.2.
After that called "performance patch" the problems started. Ancestor league was not good but playable. Now I am killed while area (act 6) loading. 2x in a row ...
" I'm not telling anyone that the only reason is their PC but for most people it might be applicable to check their specs since not everyone understands the requirements to play the games they want. Indeed if you have all the components needed to run the game and already tries working the settings a bit and nothing improved it might be related to the patch last league and what they introduced with it. By all means I myself feel the issue (fps drops , longer times to load than before but not that much after I upgraded my pc - CPU , MOBO , RAM) . That's why I wanted to rule out that the PC is not the factor here. |

" Apologies,,i'm not calling you out personally. I guess its more frustration towards GGG on my part just as any post opened about performance issues that those people are frustrated with too. Lots of people have been posting about performance issues which kind of has a pattern on time frame (the past league or 3)and people ahve been putting this into their information. And that tells me it cant just all of a sudden be peoples computers. When more people are saying in advice to other to upgrade their pc's or do this tweak or what ever. it allows GGG to be able to avoid the problem, giving them more time to let it slide or say nothing at all as though its no problem from their cause. I am pretty sure they do know there is issues but cant find it. This game has been running 10 years. This tells me over the years code has been updated, edited, removed or what ever needed for their patching, and league updates and its piled up in the back end to the point everything is in a mess so much that its hard to now locate what actually is causing it. The option they could do, is not bring out a new league and rather spend the time completely on a performance and quality patch instead. However, they can never do this spending the time as they lose revenue. Without a new league patch every 3 months hardly anyone will play much longer. 3 Month leagues is what keeps POE alive.
" When was the last time you did a complete windows re-install, windows often falls over itself after a reasonable amount of time has passed. Hardware/Software conflicts can cause all manner of issues. Even uninstalling the game completely including any data stored in documents/appdata could solve many performance issues in the game.
SSD, PC ok, works great in other games, only in poe is this problem.
Please, really, don't write that it's my fault, my laptop or my network...please....the game as it stands is not satisfying, it is frustrating Last edited by kokosznik on Dec 21, 2023, 9:51:53 AM

" It's definitely GGG's problem, not your PC. Bad game engine and bad coding from GGG programmers. It always was bad but in the last few leagues it went out of hand, especially since that notorious "performance patch". And for those who claim that the game engine is fine please go to tech support forum and read endless threads about performance issues. Game engine was fine 3 years ago, now it's just a wreck.
I had super long loading times also until I stumbled on a "fix" that probably won't work for the majority.
On a hunch, I disabled the MSI overclock application, NOT afterburner but the one that came with my motherboard I can't think of the name of it at the moment but I think it's called "MSI Gaming App". Literally immediately my load times went back to 5-10 seconds. They were upwards of 30-45 seconds. The fps drops however are still a massive problem in big fights. Motherboard is MSI Gaming 5. CPU is i7 7700k GPU is 1080ti 16gb ram Last edited by Gulch on Dec 21, 2023, 11:01:08 AM
